Cryptocurrency discussions / Re: How effective is an Airdrop?
« on: May 04, 2018, 11:35:39 PM »
I believe airdrops are a nice way of avoiding uncertainties about the legal status of your tokens. Although some airdrops require KYC - a feature whose reason eludes me. Should not tokens in airdrops count as gifts? Aside from this, airdrops are a good way to increase the reach of the project. If I did an ICO today I would surely put tokens aside for an airdrop. I think many telegram channels have 4 digit numbers of followers only because of airdrops.

Cryptocurrency discussions / Re: Is KYC necessary for bounty?
« on: April 13, 2018, 12:59:14 PM »
I understood that KYC became a prudent measure for ICOs when regulators starting to say they are going to pressure exchanges into delisting some tokens. Because the tokens are securities. So KYC and AML became a necessity when ICOs wanted to exit fro ETH into fiat into a bank account. Then the solution, at least I thought so, was airdrops with tokens being gifts and no investment of any kins present, so securities are out of question. And now I see there are ICOs requring KYC for airdrops, which I do not understand. Some believe ICOs are out to make some money on the side by selling the KYC data on darknet on something, but I find it hard to believe all of them would be doing it. So there must be another reason for it, I guess.

Any coin can go to the moon at times of irrational exuberance like we had in 2017. The question is which coin can regularly perform quite weill, or, if you prefer, oscilate within a fairly narrow band while increasing in value long term. I think very few will be like that. A coin that is legally unshakeable and has a true utility value. Also that is scalable and liquid. Probably cream of the cream. I can't wait how this year turns out in regard to crypto with so many changes taking place. It will be undoubtedly an exciting watch.

Cryptocurrency Price Speculations / Re: It is time to stock up on ETH
« on: April 02, 2018, 01:57:16 PM »
Capping any currency is not the wisest of moves in the long run if it has to support some kind of growth. Caps make sense when you are dealing with utility tokens havng a real function and whose value is expected to grow because of that. If you want to have a growing economy, then do not cap it. ETH has a chance to outdo bitcoin because it is not capped and will not go into deflation. With this move they will kill the chance.

Two possibilities are ahead of us. Maybe the bubble bursts or better deflates so there is very little future in crypto and some other technology takes over. The other, and more probable, is that finally the stance of traditional finance about crypto is clear, such as regulations, taxes, kyc, aml and the like. And then every ICO can prepare itself accordingly plus institutions enter crypro big time and we have a boom. Regardless of what takes place, a lot of altcoins will simply disappear...too much of everything imo.

Ethereum Forum / Re: Is it a Good Time to Invest in Ethereum?
« on: March 30, 2018, 10:30:18 PM »
Today is a good day. ETH is below 400$! Experience tells us it will likely go up to around 500$ and the swing down again as long as the bear trend lasts, so yes, buy some now. When the countries issue clear legal terms for crypto trading and ICOs things markets will shoot up again. Until then I hold my ETH and possibly buy some more if below 400$.

Ethereum Forum / Re: strategy for ethereum

Ethereum's value will, in my opinion, depend a lot on the ICO developments in the near future. Will a lot of ICOs fail? If so, then the value of eth will likely not rise much. The same will happen if an alternative blockchain becomes the main focus of activity. I am not holding much eth and use it mainly for gas. I believe some other altcoins will have greater potential for growth, but not many. It could be that the great boom is over, who knows. Wouldn't be surprised.

To me the whitepaper is not the highlight of the project. It can take anything. I first check if the team are real persons with some experience appropriate for the project. Then I check if there is some product already in existence. And lastly I have to ask mysefl if this project really needs to be on blockchain and is not just a "tokenization for its own sake" thing. And then I also check reviews and what others may think. If all this turns out OK, I might invest. So far so good:)

Bitcoin Forum / Re: What happens if people stop buying bitcoin?
« on: March 25, 2018, 07:06:20 PM »
The same would happen to bitcoin as happens with any asset for which there is no demand. Its value goes to zero. Frankly I would not be surprised if that happened as there are many altcoins coming up with a better and scalable blockchain, but being first on the market obviously counts for something. Its existence could be assured if some government decided to collect taxes only in BTC:) No interest for that though as governments would rather issue their own cryptocurrencies. And make mining bitcoins an offense to boot. Anyhow, I wish bitcoin a long reign because I appreciate the effort that went into it and the intent.

Ethereum Forum / Re: Will in the near future be stable ETH?
« on: March 23, 2018, 06:49:34 PM »
To me the question depends on when you bought eth. If you bought them at the beginning at a rather low price, you can easily sell. Otherwise I would suggest to hold, at least that is what I am doing. Eth will likely never be stable so it will be attractive for trading. There will be other tokens designed for stability into which we will be able to exit. As a side note: FT seems really to dislike token that might act as a medium of exchange even when it has big names on the team: https://ftalphaville.ft.com/2018/03/22/1521726969000/The--academic-s-cryptocurrency--is-an-elegant-waste-of-time-/

Ethereum Forum / Re: Will Eth price is going up again?
« on: March 21, 2018, 09:48:21 PM »
It is still way below where it was in January, so I guess it is OK to buy. When the price of ETH starts to rise consistently that will be a signal that all the ICOs that did not liquidate their eth before the slump are soon going to exit. This will mean there is more innovation coming to Ethereum and can further boost the price... just my guessing though. I sure hope I am right beacuse I am a hodler:)

I think Stellar blockchain may perform well. Having said that Ethereum is also not to be discarded. I know it sometimes gets clogged (kitttens and the like) but still, mostly it functions quite well. I also believe that when it come to currencies, it is not so much a matter of blockchain (although it is important, of course) as a matter of a token that is stable enough to be used as a means of payment. We'll see.

You think that we will see peer to peer sports betting on blockchain soon?

That's already existing.  :)

look out for:
  • sportsbet.io
  • cloudbet.com
  • nitrogensports.eu

Have fun betting!

Thanx Neelix, I am checking them out.
