Title: KYC for BAT Withdrawal and Deposit on Brave
Post by: ZionRTZ on September 13, 2019, 03:09:47 PM
In case you are not aware yet, Brave has required users earning BAT thru the browser and withdraws them to an external wallet. Likewise, those who will deposit  BAT to their wallet on Brave exceeding $600 will have to go through verification.

KYC will be processed by Uphold Exchange. You can find more details at https://support.brave.com/hc/en-us/articles/360032158891-What-is-KYC-

If you are one of the many users who doesn't like KYC and still watches ads to earn BAT, you may want to stop that.

Regardless if it's a third party doing the verification, it is still quite ironic that a platform which advocates privacy is requiring KYC to users. I still use Brave but with this policy, I' not going to hesitate changing if I see another proven privacy-based browser. Suggestion/s?

Unfortunately the're not so many options for you. There're a number of quality browsers actually: Chrome, Firefox, Waterfox, Opera, Naver Whale, Yandex... However, only Firefox was proven through time for its privacy and security. Waterfox can be another option since it's open sourced.

Yeah Firefox is my second browser. It's also the most recommended one based on what I read in various forums (next to Brave). I'm not familiar with other browsers you mentioned like Waterfox and Naver Whale. I will read mo reviews on Waterfox.

Brave is indeed a type of coin that is not centralized and Brave also has a large community because it uses the browser as its main purpose for lucrative business in cryptocurrency.
Then it must use KYC, so there is no fraud to get the BAT token from BRAVE and this is definitely a necessity that must be done.

This was some bad news in my opinions, Brave was so cool when we didn't need to do anything and stay anonymous, now they are asking us to do KYC, for me is against everything they say with the Brave Browser Idea.

600 USD is a lot of money in my place and I think it's only natural that Brave should issue KYC rules for its users for BAT withdrawals.
I think Brave is fair to enforce KYC because I fear that Brave might be misused for personal gain if it doesn't use KYC.

I know about this but I have now stopped using Brave because I am annoyed that my ad revenue doesn't go to the top

I have also stopped it recently because of annoying ad revenue and its kyc process. I have tried many times with my legal documents but it failed every time. I don't want to use anymore such a browser that wants kyc.

Now reward its very low for the people who use brave and its not worth to make the KYC for that, after the announcement about the KYC for many people quit to use brave.

It is true friends, if for withdrawals under 10 USD it may be very small or it is not necessary to use KYC in the BRAVE search platform.
600 USD is about 1.2 BNB if it was converted when I wrote the thread and it is quite expensive because it can get good value coins (if converted to BNB which is currently hitting the market).
I think this is for the safety of using the Brave browser and I agree to use KYC.
