I don't know what they stand to achieve in this they are into, it is not legal that they detained the personnel on such ground for nothing sake, all these adjournment makes no sense because they are not ready to bring out something quality for the whole duration of time needed to conclude on their case, after which one person already have escaped, now will they judge on putting them into jail or do what concerning their matter after detaining them.

It seems to me that the Nigerian government is getting more and more involved in this case. There are a lot of suspicious things that have happened around this case and it would have been better if the Nigerian government had stopped it instead of postponing it.

In any case, I think that they will not gain anything new from the postponement except to procrastinate and gain more time. Perhaps in the meantime they can blackmail Binance with some money to end the case.

Attention, they can gain that needed social media if they will not extradite Do Kwon to US or South Korea. And also monetary, there will be incentives for all we know as Nigerian government is corrupt.

So there will be someone in the government making tons of money from Do Kwon or even from the countries that I mentioned before they will allow him to be moved around and faces the charges on him.

I doubt the case will close because the Nigerian government must try to seek out payments in form of fines from Binance before letting Do Kwon go.
I don't think Binance should be scared what might happen, if they do care for the future of cryptocurrency mostly in the country, then they got to just pay the fine or leave.

Apart from Binance which is an international company. Nigerian government knows how to manipulate any legal petition before them. Most of the detainees would either bribe or do something more than that to regain freedom. When I heard about the escape of Binance executives, I understood that something Nigerian has happened.

I'll look forward to 19th to knowing what will be the outcome of the matter. However, it will correct if you say that Nigerian government is already winning the battle.

It will depend on how serious Binance is and how much the government wants to make money from the platform. The matter will end in a judicial settlement, but the question is how much the cost will be, is it high or a low amount?

According to President Tinubu’s special adviser on information and strategy, Bayo Onanuga, he said the fine can be up to $10 billion. It was what BBC misinterpreted until he said Binance has not been fined yet but what could possibly happen. But nobody knows what the fine can be until the the judgement.

Yes, the case will be on April 19, but as I read in Cointelegraph, “according to new reports, the bail hearing has been postponed until April 18. Some publications also stated that the hearings on the charges will begin on May 2.”

I also believe that the Nigerian government will win in the battle because this is their country and they make the laws and they can do anything and put obstacles in the way of the case to blackmail Binance for money.

Unfortunately, in a country like Nigeria, where the judiciary is corrupt and unfair, you cannot do anything.

The fine imposed by the United States was about $2.5 billion, and given US, this amount has been settled, but it is difficult to believe that Binance may commit to paying $1 billion to continue in the Nigerian market, and the court and the government will not benefit anything if such a fine is imposed.
I expect the settlement to be made for a few million dollars, perhaps 50 or 100 million.

Nigeria has always disappoint we its citizens. It is so bad to the extent that the government later know that they have huge amount they can generate from crypto taxing from exchanges but you can see the wrong moves they made of accusing Binance and blocking their website including all other centralized exchanges websites that I know. Even I can not access blockchain explorer after the exchanges website ban. Although, we can still access the exchanges using the app, including Binance. I think if the government make a better regulation instead and make the exchanges to have offices in Nigeria would have been a better approach and which will favour these foreign exchanges and the Nigerians, including the government.

About the fine, we can only speculate. We do not know how much it can be. I do not even know yet if it will lead to fine, but highly possible. And if it lead to fine, that what would be Binance move after. Binance may avoid it just to avoid other countries from doing the same thing that Nigeria is doing right now. We all know that Nigeria is not the only country Binance has been operating like this. I mean in a way the exchange is providing crypto service without registering in the country.

Why are they trying a Binance executive who doesn't even live in Nigeria (CMIIW) for tax evasion in the first place, when he's just visiting the area on a business trip?

Or is there some part of the story that I am missing here?

And wasn't there another guy who was detained there with him as well with passport confiscated and not allowed to leave? What has happened to him?

You are right, they detained two persons in their country, but the other person escaped sometime last month, lol. I don't know how he managed to escape, since the country claims they seized his international passport, yet he got on an international flight and left the country.
