The price of meme cryptocurrency Dogecoin may continue to rise and could eventually hit $1, its creator and co-founder Billy Markus has said.
The one-dollar mark has long been the aim of some members of the Dogecoin community on Reddit, and is becoming a real possibility as this week the price shot up from around $0.13 Thursday morning to around $0.29 Friday morning.
At the time of writing, a single dogecoin was worth $0.25, up more than 80 percent in the past 24 hours according to CoinMarkCap data.
It was not entirely clear what sparked the surge, but the cryptocurrency was mentioned online this week by some high-profile users, including tech billionaire Elon Musk, the "Wolf of Wall Street" stock trader Jordan Belfort and meat snack company Slim Jim.

Did everyone seen Elon Musk tweet "SNL May 8 dogecoin". What do you think he would announce on May 8? Will it help dogecoin to hit and surpass $1 line? Hope it will, because as we can see, its growth has stopped and the price has corrected from 68 to 62 cents.

After how crazy everyone has gotten with Doge, I wouldn't be surprised if it came to $1, it all depends on how many millions the whales will sell on the 8th. What I would like to know is what Elon is going to do, I guess a lot of people are accumulating Doge right now in the hopes that Elon will buy, hope he won't sell, otherwise it would be a complete disaster for many.

I am still curious about Elon’s tweet about May 8 for Dogecoin. We don’t know but it could be very interesting for us to see where will the price go.
It’s true that Dogecoin has almost reached $0.70 and kinda imminent to touchdown $1.00. Elon’s influence has made this coin grow several fold from just averaging $0.005 and now beyond $0.60. However, the effect and result would be reversed if Elon says something bad or FUDdish-related towards Dogecoin.
With zero fundamentals and no real use case, this would remain as a short-term funny meme coin. The growth will be not for long, because once the trend dies, DOGE will take a huge nosedive.

I'm also one of those who has joined dogecoin trend and bought coins for $300.
I bought them at the price of 61 cent two days ago. Now the price is the same and sometimes it even drops below 62 cent. Earlier, I would be worried about price drops, but today I'm confident of a growth and not going to sell them till the price reaches $1.

Before, I remember that hitting $1 price of doge was just a dream but with the support of Elon Musk the price was surging, it was really amazing. If Elon Musk keeps supporting doge for sure it will hit $1 this year.

Elon Musk's support?. You mean personal interest. It's hard for me to see that there are still people who believe that Elon Musk is here to enrich others, I think people are naive to believe something like that. The most recent example can be seen with Tesla, Bitcoin yes, Bitcoin no.

With it’s popularity, it’s price also increasing highly. I think Dogecoin will hit 1$ easily. There create a possibility to touch 5$ at the end of this year.
