This is just another reminder to everyone never to download anything from the emails you receive. Some scammers are so smart and they make their emails really look professional. Remember that no reputable company would just send random emails.

'Lost Files' Data Wiper Poses as a Windows Security Scanner

ISC Handler Xavier Mertens received a spam email that pretends to be from Microsoft and has a subject of "Virus Detection On Your Computer!". The email then proceeds to state that a Trojan horse was detected on the computer and that the recipient should download the linked to "security scanner"

That email is old school but it can still be effective knowing that there are still people who are unaware of these dirty tricks and are ignorant when it comes to security of their computers. One simple way to prevent this is by ignoring/deleting random emails.

Well, first you can read this letter without opening the links, because if you do not do this, there may not be harm, well, then delete it if it’s spam
