Today Feb 29 is my 28 th year of not smoking tobacco.

1996 to 2024

Saved lots of coin and better health so far.

Plus I have an anniversary on Feb 29th.

quit today and you can also have a Feb 29 anniversary.

Great to hear that mate,

As for my experience, been "serious" smoking since 1999 and then quit 2021 November. So it's been more than 3 years now that I completely stop, just cold turkey. Wake up in the morning with my black coffee, but i just said to myself, I don't want to smoke anymore and so I start that day and never look back.

Yes, it's true, lots of benefits specially the money that you can save in a week as I'm a heavy smoker back then. 1 pack of Marlboro lights is not enough for me in a day. Just in the morning alone, having my black coffee, I can burn 3 cigarettes in one sitting.

And then when I go to land base casinos, I will continue to smoke in my gambling. And with that, I will tell everyone that if I did it abruptly, then others too.

I quit smoking in March of 2021. I was put in the hospital with fluid around my heart and couldn't breathe, basically drowning. I went 2 weeks dealing with it before I finally said take me to the hospital. I was in heart failure and almost died. Got admitted and spent a week in the hospital getting fluid drained from around my heart and taking tests etc.

When I was released a week later, my wife emptied the house of all salts, threw away any smokes, and changed our diet plan. I got surgery on abad valve in october 2021 and an aortic aneurysm. Haven't had a cig since March of 2021.

From the experience of several friends and I know all the processes from the beginning,
If you have been able to stop smoking in a few weeks, months or even years, do not dare to smoking again because this will actually damage your lungs even more.
And it is recommended to stop smoking at the maximum age of 40 because the lungs can still regenerate lost or damaged cells even though it is only below 60%.

I have been an active smoker since 1999 until now and I hope I can quit soon, maybe this year, it may be too late but it is better than not stopping at all.

Started at my teen age. Been a chain smoker at my 20s. Then suddenly quit, when i found out that my youngest daughter has a weak pulmonary system. And yes before her, I'm trying and keep on trying to quit. Then just it hits me, i suddenly didn't like to smoke anymore. And some occasion, i tried to light one, but its not amusing or appetizing anymore, its just plain sour and undesirable.

Yeah, I saw your story in the other thread. Good for me, I didn't go to that point, although I'm diabetic and we all know that if had one, sooner or later it will have a effect on our lungs.

So again, just like that, I quit smoking, but wife is a smoker too, and so I will see her cigarettes and ashtrays lying around. But I'm not tempted in any way to go back and up to this day, after I quit, never go back and will not.

That is hard! But i don't know you guys and your story but. I worry about your the second hand smoking, that probably also affect you even though you quit already. And the same time your diabetic, which is i am too and i know our immune system is already weak. So hope the wife also quits.

My wife has never been a smoker, thank god. I wouldn't have stuck with her if so, it's weird because i was a smoker but cannot stand the taste of a smoker.

Smoked from 13 to 39 . I am so happy I quit It is now 28 years without a smoke.

Well done, the recovery of normal cells in your lungs must be more than 40 or even above 50%.
And here I am still smoking while posting this lol - this year will be the last, I swear ...

Thank God you are heal and hearty now and much in good health, at least never in this life would you experience a ugly feeling that cigarettes does in people's life.

We thank God for life when you shared your health challenging moment on btt forum years back, and I pretty much happy that you are very sound in health, and have put a big stop to cigarettes since 2021
