Title: Bitcoin Gold Hacked for $18 Million
Post by: mskumar on May 25, 2018, 06:46:00 AM
It appears Bitcoin Gold (BTG) has been double spend attacked over and over again, totalling something in the neighborhood of $18 million at current prices. BTG forums seem to have been tracking the hack, going as far back as last week, monitoring the controversial coin’s hashrate, ultimately determining a 51% attack was under way.

Can't say I'm surprised. These forks are prime targets for hack. With a hack like this, the price is definitely going to plummet. Hopefully there are not a lot of people who are holding this coin. People should make sure to be careful about the coins that they invest in. There will be a lot of burned investors from this who will be losing a whole lot of money due to this hack.

Haha may be true in this case.. I'd say like someone else mentioned that these forks are especially susceptible to these sort of attacks.. I'm actually surprised it took this long.

Founded in 2017, the hard fork cryptocurrency Bitcoin Gold has suffered a “double-spending” hacking attack that reportedly allowed the unknown hijackers to take control of more than 51 percent of the BTG hashrate. The attack, which reportedly started on May 18, 2018, has managed to amass more than $18 million in Bitcoin Gold from various exchanges, including Bittrex.

I am not really knowledgeable about hacking and some related things but as an individual who comes to think about this possibility, I might as well feel that everything in cryptocurrency isn't always that safe. But I am glad that before things get worse it has just been made known.

hacking is very annoying and it is very annoying and detrimental to many parties, especially the owner, namely the gold bitcoin group, and you should provide multiple security.
