The Nigerian Securities Regulator has stated that cryptocurrency exchanges have complied with a directive to remove the local currency from peer-to-peer platforms. The acting director-general of the Nigerian Securities and Exchange Commission has... See more for yourself here.

Your opinion is greatly appreciated.

When a currency has been subsidize for many years and then one day the government decide to stop the subsidy because they were spending billions of of dollars to subsidize it and then after that, the currency decide to make a new face for it value and traders are using the opportunity to trade on the profit but he government is now seeing that as a taboo, isn't that hypocritical and foolish? You don't give what you don't have and yet you want to conttol what others have, that's not possible.

All this are short term remedies, traders will always trade and profit will be made with or without centralized exchanges, there many of them on WhatsApp and Telegram and that's the place the government can't control.

I never believe in Altcoin investing, only fools invest in Altcoins.  All and sundry investors only invest in Bitcoin because it is a trusted coin where investment is sure to lead to success. But investing in bitcoins must be done with long-term investment, long-term investment is the only way to get the most benefits. The higher the investment in Bitcoin, the higher the benefits.

You sound harsh my friend.
People invest in altcoins for many reasons, the hype, the money, the opportunity and fast money makers.
The people that invest because of hype are mostly the newbies who get as they don't do research, they got into altcoins due to what other people says and not their own beliefs on the project.

The people who invest because of money have reasons because altcoins has made a lot of people profits in the past and it's actually valid to invest in altcoins.

Some people invest in altcoins because they wbat to create something unique, like when Defi came around some new projects has to invest in some projects because they don't have choice, you need money to make money.

Money makers are just people that scalp profit from one projects to another and they actually do make it big. So, I don't think none of this people are foolisg, perhaps the noobs who refuse to do personal research.

Ethereum Forum / Re: ETH is the king of crypto!
« on: May 20, 2024, 02:53:13 PM »
The problem of high gas fees has been around for a long time, due. And ethereum dev has no solution to this problem. Currently the ethereum gas fee is down, but I think this is due to traffic problems on the ethereum network not being busy, if it's busy again the gas fee will rise again. Currently, many have switched to Solana and BSC

Your post made me remember eth2.0 hype, Ethereum community are very good in hyping, they were using transition of Ethereum from proof of work to proof of stake as evidence for the fees to drop down because that time the network was experiencing one hyper fees due to increased in Defi adoption but after the change, I never see any decrease in the fees.

I just think once a network has been deployed, you can't change some metrics about it especially the key factors like the fees, we just have to manage the network like that just like Bitcoin.

I think the p2p trading method is good, and we can still carry out crypto trading activities on the exchange. I myself also use this method, so I send money to people for p2p transactions and I get crypto coins, be it Bitcoin or Altcoin. Likewise, if I want to withdraw money, I sell my crypto coins to my p2p partner and then the money is sent to my bank account. And so far I haven't had any problems, the fees are not too expensive in my opinion.

Countries that ban crypto don't allow central exchanges to operate on their space. They will ask the exchanges doing such service to take down local p2p from their platform and because the exchanges are centralized, they don't have choice but to comply with them and agreed to stop service. For example, Nigeria is currently experiencing the same problem as the government continues to take down p2p services on major exchanges.

I think it could be but age restrictions need. I think child gambling is not good. When child involved in gambling he will so far from his instutional education. And he will fall in risk for his future.

So it can be includ for highschool or College level not for primary school. We should careful about our child.

Child gambling isn't about something to think about, what is not good is not good, emotion or any justification behind a child gambling behavior and even though it's been thought school, the role in which the government that approve gambling, the parent who look out for a child and the gambling platform who role out services all together need to come with a permanent solution.

The truth is that kyc is failing despite the harsh judgement behind anti money laundering scheme, it doesn't stop minors from playing, the noobs might actually wouldn't be able but the smart ones knows better how to follow the back door.

the fees, gentlemen, are really very very low
stuff that hadn't been seen for many months
it means that whoever had to move things, moved them
obviously I'm referring to ordinals, inscriptions and runes

Now he seems very calm from that point of view
among other things I got an NFT

I did made use of the network yesterday. I sent Bitcoin from my wallet from my wallet yesterday and I was surprised by the amount of sats requested, it was asking for 6 sats actually and I did 7 sats for the transactions and under 7 minutes, my transaction got first confirmation, this is after 5 weeks I last did a transaction and I'm happy we are here but the question is will this last?

I think the reason for this is because the market is calm for now. If Bitcoin make a move to 70k or even above, we are going to experience another month of congestion or even more depending on if bull run click or not.

Crypto-related Sites / Re: Coinmarkatcap?
« on: May 20, 2024, 02:14:22 PM »
I have different opinion about this matters. I would recommend CoinGecko instead, especially for newcomers. It has more clean and less confusing UI with better coin/token categorization. CMC doing that badly, especially when categorizing privacy coins[1].

[1] https://www.altcoinstalks.com/index.php?topic=316407.0

Coinmarketcap used to be very popular and active for everyone back then, Coingecko was around but hasn't captured the heart of many because of the user based but Coinmarketcap fell off the moment they sold the platform to Binance for 200m, I remember they tried to bring in new people using aidrop to then but the part where they put comments for users turnout to a place for spam and scam.

The UI on the web is also slow, not very responsive, I don't know probably they didn't increase the bandwidth or server but coingecko is given and better in performance than Coinmarketcap by far.

That's true, privacy is an issue in any centralized service. I don't remember whether it has been discussed on this topic or not, but I'm pretty sure some members seem to think that privacy is not a crucial issue for them. Maybe that's why some people happily suggest or claim that an exchange or closed-source wallet is a good option to store your crypto for the long term. I remember discussing it with other members but they don't seem convinced that privacy is a key factor in selecting which apps/services they use in the future.

A lot of people sell their privacy over cool features exchange give them and they always feel relax by those things, but the day even the exchange will report you or flag your account, you wouldn't expect it.

I saw a complaint on X platform, the guy was making complaints that his account was restricted and he couldn't move his funds and the reply he got was that he should visit a nearby police station, that was one of the strangest reply I have seen from an exchange. This are one of the issues of using a centralized exchanges.

There's no mistake, most of us will definitely say the same thing, namely that Manchester City will be able to defend their title this season. They have a great chance and in my opinion it will only be great luck if Arsenal can finally become champions.

Their opponents overall are not difficult opponents, and you are right that their victory against Tottenham was the key that ultimately placed them as the biggest favorites in the remaining matches.

Manchester City has come from a very far journey, if they are going to lose this league title, they would have done it a long time a go, they also could have done it when they met with Tottenham but they trashed Spurs like they are ever ready for any team that comes there way, there last match is going to be incredible and Haaland will make sure he finishes with some extra goal for his golden booth.

Arsenal has tried this season, it was them and Liverpool that was pushing so far but Liverpool gave up along the line and even without the trophy, Arteta was able to break winning matches in this season that Arsenal has never did before, next season will be better and stronger.

Ethereum Forum / Re: Why Ethereum is The Best?
« on: May 17, 2024, 05:47:43 PM »
It's true, Ethereum is indeed one of the altcoins that offers security in its products. Currently, the price of Ethereum still has the potential to rise very high someday. So in my opinion we have to take advantage of the price movements in Ethereum to increase the assets we own.
ethereum is indeed safe to hold long term, but for now I will not buy ethereum anymore, I will focus more on buying other altcoins that can make profits faster than bitcoin and ethereum. I will but solana , BNB and ripple.

Buying a coin that grows faster than Bitcoin is not bad but it wouldn't be cool if you diversify your portfolio with other altcoins and then you skipped Ethereum that is the king of altcoins. You know when trend tend to enter into altcoins, it will first enter the Ethereum first before going to other ones and probably, it wouldn't be that big like the first one. Remember Meme coin last bull run, Shiba was the first time on ethereum before other tokes start to grow on other chains.

Cryptocurrency discussions / Re: The impact of crypto on our lives
« on: May 17, 2024, 05:42:09 PM »
      -    Here in our country, the impact of crypto on our local community is strong. Is it because of the difficulty of life here? It's not much to earn money if you don't work hard; for sure, their family will starve.

and most of us here are also a lot of idiots and gullible; it's just like they do aiirdrops for seminars, something that, if I look at it, they're funny. then the others still charge like that, but I'm not sure.

I think there is difficulty everywhere but one thing crypto was able to do is that it has helped a lot of people that are looking for opportunities but don't have the means to do what they want to accomplish in life. Many people that you see around today that are having difficulty about life are not lazy, they just don't have means to show their efforts.

Orientation is what some of them lack, if you can be different from them because you were able to have access to a good forum, I'm sure they wouldn't behave that way if they have the same opportunity like you do here.

Forum related / Re: Why is this common here.
« on: May 15, 2024, 07:38:24 PM »
I have just a simple and straight question to know maybe it was said here that users should end their post with "your opinion will be appreciated" because I have seen many users end their post with that statement, when they can in fact ignore the urge to put that in as it is unnecessary as users will always share their opinion.

Even forum members who teleported their accounts from bitcointalk and did not write like that there, do so in this forum.

I'm not sure where I saw this quote but I have seen it from two member ranks and after I check most of their threads, they are spammers who just post random generic thread to either increase post counts and activity so the can rank faster, I don't know there true motive after that.

If there are other genuine posters that use it, I don't think its really bad since most of replies and discussion are just opinions, advice and suggestions to what OP has posted or reply to another person.

Cryptocurrency Trading / Re: Just HODL
« on: May 15, 2024, 07:23:50 PM »
I maintain holdings in certain cryptocurrencies while simultaneously utilizing Bitget's smart portfolio feature to pair a portion of those holdings with Bitcoin. This allows me to accumulate more Bitcoin automatically if my altcoin holdings increase in value relative to Bitcoin.

Nice idea but accumulation shouldn't has happened on the exchange, do it on your own wallet, the one you can control and have power over. An exchange like Bitget is not even popular, if they disappeared today, you will have no where to run over to but keeping your coin on your personal wallet or in a hardware wallet will help you secure your Bitcoin.

You can use Electrum if you decide to keep only Bitcoin, this software wallet is the best and you can create one offline so your private keys don't get vulnerable to scammers.

The last game for the end of the season :)
I think most of us would agree that Manchester City will lift the premier league trophy this season unless a miracle happens, I mean West Ham will win this game.
Win against Tottenham was the key, and it was a great performance from City and Halaand, a great goal that not only sealed the three points but also put Erling Haaland in pole position to retain the premier league golden Boot.

If Son really had score that goal, it's not what we are talking here we will be talking right now, that was the first time Manchester City was making goal in goal in Tottenham since past many seasons but luckily they did it yesterday, one was goal and the other was penalty but before that penalty was awarded, if Sun has scored that goal, it will change the game and Manchester City wouldn't have had opportunity.

Arsenal faith is decided and I think they have to try again next time, though I think other clubs like Liverpool were once In Arsenal shoe but Guardiola is just destiny to break Premier League statistics.

Bitcoin Forum / Re: Is Bitcoin Too Expensive For Me?
« on: May 15, 2024, 06:15:42 PM »
If bitcoin is too expensive, then what are we to say about the other altcoins which are more expensive to invest in because of their higher risk on investment, sometimes we could not just afford to make investment n other coins than bitcoin because of the risk involved in them, while bitcoin has been made available for everyone to invest according to how they can afford to without having the fear of missing out.

I don't see any expensive how Bitcoin is, the fact that you can buy Bitcoin in fraction, there is no problem at all because you are covered by security, you are covered from any form of scams if you keep your coins on a good exchange and it you don't have to worry about any form of rug pull but I think his fear is because of the return on the investment. It's better to have a safe investment and have a moderate return than to have a return that is never guaranteed.
