Soft Cap - Minimum fund required for the project/ICO to proceed. If the Softcap is not achieved, the project will not move any further and the investments will be returned to the investors.

Hard Cap - Maximum Fund required for the project/ICO. If the project raised the Hardcap, the Crowdsale will automatically close and the development process starts right away.

For instance, let's see VRT world, This ICO has a soft cap around 3.5 million and a hard cap of 16 million. This means that if the project does not attain 3.5 million it will not proceed and also if it reaches 16 million no more can be contributed.

Yeah right. And if you want to participate in any ICO try to find an ICO that requires not high hard cap. This will have a chance to reach the target price successful.

based on my study the Hard Cap is defined as the maximum amount a crowdsale will receive. Most projects set a very high cap that is unlikely to happen. and the Soft Cap is the amount received at which your crowdsale will be considered a success, It is the minimal amount required by your project.

Lower cap doesn't guarantee success of project most ICO with low cap ends up being a pump and dump ICO or scam so I was told..
Nevertheless I think high cap can some time be one of the prerequisite of been a good and successful project.

In my opinion, both of you are wrong. Whether to invest in an ICO has nothing to do with having a bigger / smaller hardcap. If the project is big, then you'll eventually have a bigger hardcap. If it's a small project and having a bigger hardcap then the risk of being scammed is higher. Investing in a ICO has to do with the team, tech, white paper, its solution etc. Generally, investing in a ICO has nothing to do with its Cap

Quite frankly, hard caps on projects kind of annoys me.. it annoys me further when projects are way past soft cap and extend.. like whats the point of a soft cap if the amount is too low for you to get the project going?  Most hard caps are getting ridiculously unreasonable.. I saw a project the other day without a working product looking for a 50 million dollar hardcap for 45% of the supply.. that means just to break even.. the project would have to START in the top 100 on coinmarketcap practically which is just insane to me.  If your project requires a marketing team and 5-10 programmers, does it really need 50 million dollars for one year of development?  Its a ridiculous notion.

Hard cap is hard and soft cap is soft.  ;D ;D
Seriously, hard cap is the average price of the team of an ICO to say that their project is successful if they reach it. But sometimes it is hard to reach because the it is too much high. Although they can not reach the hard cap as long as they reach the soft cap project must go on.

Here is my opinion to a high hard cap. Don't invest to it if you think it will be possible to reach because that means project will not succeed.

as I know, every project has a sales target of a token created. the initial target of sales or ICO is called soft cap, and the maximum sales target of total token supply is called hardcap, all can be completed or achieved through several sales phases or ICO  :)

I have seen several projects that do not have a Soft Cap. What do you think that means? Is it worth to pay attention to it?
Yes of course, To follow a campaign, you should see if the project has softcap and hardcap or not? if the project does not have it all how to know the project it will work or not?
