Title: About karma
Post by: Gubre on October 06, 2018, 01:54:31 PM
I wonder of it is against the rule of being a generous of giving karma as much as you like the idea of the one who made the thread or the one that gave his/her response.

As long as you learn or like the idea you can give karma to them, theres no rules for that, but make sure if you give karma to a specific person wait 100 hours to give him/her again

Yes. As long as it is a quality topic or reply, we can give it +Karma. Usually, I just give +1 Karma once only for every quality topic or reply. To avoid abuse issue.

Positive karma is no problem. How about negative karma?

In my sufbforum local, there are several suspicious account that doing plagiarism post. Another member feels not comfortable to them.
And several member gave them (suspicious member) negative karma.
What do you think about that?

All of us should be responsible of giving a karma and not only due to influence by a friends in order to ensure the quality of posts or to encourage members to create a quality posts.

That's good. You can send them warning pm first, or execute them directly without warning.

There is another problem regarding negative karma (karma war).
How if there is anyone who like to attack others by giving bad karma without valid reason ?
Forum police are needed.
Your opinion please.

I think for one to receive karma negative/positive, certain things should be considered. The first is, is this post/reply enlightening/vague? Secondly, has it contributed to knowledge increase/decrease? Thirdly, has it brought any value/devalue to the table? Finally, does it offer a solution/causes more confusion? Thanks.

As senior member I have responsible to give Karma (positive or negative) for the better forum.

If I found quality post, I give them positive Karma. And I think there is no problem.

But when I give Negative Karma, I always give them who make copy paste post (no edit) karma negative. But before it, I always warn them in their thread. When they still do same. I reported to moderator. But if they still do same again, I gave them Karma negative.

There is a section to report such activities. If you are given a negative karma and you think you don't deserve it, then you can file for a review at Forum Court. Instructions https://www.altcoinstalks.com/index.php?topic=13683.0

When I reward +Karma I usually post that I rewarded Karma to make it more honest and transparent, so it can be encouraging to others, but examples for everyone to see what I find worthy of it.  What I don't want to see though is people posting stuff to purely Karma farm or posts for milestones like "I made 10 Karma, and you can too!" ... if I start seeing posts like this I will give them negative Karma since I'm already on to that game from BTT.  Also don't be afraid to post on the 7th or 8th page of a thread if you have something to say or would like to add to the conversation... Moderators of their section will read them, so no sense of trying to Karma farm on page 1 threads... I assure you that even if there's a flavor that's the same as merit.. the recipe and presentation will be different.

There is no info regarding negative karma on member profile. There is no feature like that, not yet.

✓ For example : user who have more than 20 karma (and he/she do not remember how many karma that he/she has).
Then , there is fraudulent user attack her/him (give bad karma) , just because of different point of view on the forum, and or personal life problem.
The victim don't know he/she has already got negative karma.

✓ Second example :
S : scammer on the forum
N : nice member
1. "S" is keeping to break the rules, repeating shitty post and copy paste.
2. "N" find his (S) post, than inform or give warning to "S" regarding his mistakes.
3. "S" don't like the warning from "N", then "S" send bad karma to "N".
4. "N" do not know he's already got punish from "S".
5. So, he don't do report on forum court, and do not want to send pm to Admin, because "N" guess he already got negative karma from Admin , not from "S".

I get your point. As I have said this "Karma War" can be settled in the Forum Court.
I agree though that some cannot or do not monitor their karma count and having a "Karma History" feature would be helpful.

Once there will be a like of karma your concern will be settled. It would be the only solution to be more transparent of giving either receiving karma.

You can receive karma even if you are at Baby Step level but you have to make quality/helpful post. You can give karma once you reach the Sr. Member level

Giving karma to anyone is a great privilege as it was a word of thanks or punishment. But it is also possible that it was given through accidentally clicked the link whether punish or thanks karma. That's the problem of karma.

If you gave someone a positive or negative karma by mistake, you can still remove it. Just click the opposite.
Gave "thank" by mistake, click "punish"
Gave "punish by mistake, click "thank"
