Gambling discussion / Re: should gambling be completely banned?
« on: April 17, 2024, 03:44:55 PM »
Actually, based on the level gambling is going these days, on my own opinion, it should be banned. Reason being is, Student in college are no longer focus in studying because of gambling.
Gambling cannot be blamed as the only reason why there is a decline in the focus of students on their studies. There are many distractions these days on the Internet and not just gambling. I think the biggest distractions are from social media.

It has disintegrate families and relationships in the society, so to me the disadvantage of gambling in the society is more than the advantage it gives to the society, based on that,it should be banned that's my opinion.
There are still many positive stories about gambling, and other gamblers who gamble are gambling responsibly and for fun. Gambling should not be banned, but rather the government can invest in promoting responsible gambling and prevention of underaged gambling.

If gambling was a threat like it is really described in media, then it will be banned for a long time ago. People on the government level arent that dumb. I think that problem of gambling addiction exist, but it is not as huge as described. Banning gambling only because  1 our of 10000 gamblers isnt able to control himself? That is just statistical error. Look on how refreshment drinks with its load of sugar harm society. They are much bigger threat but nobody seems to ban it.
Exactly. And one more thing is that governments earn huge taxes from gambling aside from cigarrettes and liquors. This is I think based on personal choice since we are already old enough for that thing then it's always our decision to take part in gambling and governments don't care how you treat gambling yourself. You jump into it then you should be responsible to jump out from it if something bad is happening like addiction. Though governments should implement a much more strict regulations into it so minors won't be jumping in as well.

Gambling discussion / Re: Would you sell your Winning Strategy!
« on: April 17, 2024, 03:38:34 PM »

been in a forum where everyone is trying to monetize what they have been doing online and i found one selling his trading strategy, it is different from betting strategy of course but just assuming you found a betting strategy of your own. you think its just you who discovers it.

and to sum it all up your strategy makes you win 80% of your bets.  would you share the strategy to someone for a price or not?
Yes I will. This actually happened to me some years ago and I know some of you here are familiar with Peko game I personally discovered something like a trick  that gave me 100% of winning like a 5 times winning streak on my strategy after that I shared it to my group and it helps them as well unfortunately the app came to an end I just earned $100 from it before it shutdown. Though I think it is not gambling but I will surely share tricks so everybody will experience the same winnings especially in gambling.

It is never a good decision to share your personal data because of hackers.
You can be hacked more esily when someone knowns more about you.

If you can avoid sharing your data, you should avoid it.
The only problem is that sometimes we need to take the risks just to make profit and gains but the only thing here is that we don't know when and who are the bad actors that is why sometimes we can be victims. I personally don't use real identity online even in my social media accounts just to hide myself from prying eyes. Here in my place a lot of people are victims of this thing identity theft becaus they post everything on their socmed and there even an incident that thief use socmed to commit burglary and successfully ransacked and get all of valuables including the cctv as the poor owner posted something that they are out of town and that mistake draws everyones attention and that serves as a lesson for us all to never expose yourself as a target online and offline.

Cryptocurrency discussions / Re: Do you rely on Crypto Currencies?
« on: April 17, 2024, 03:18:44 PM »
As we all know crypto currency is very popular nowadays.  Many make a Good amount by trading cryptocurrencies.  But as a beginner or veteran member, do you believe in this cryptocurrency?
Yes I believe in cryptocurrency and I rely on it for me and my family to survive any crisis but unfortunately when disaster has came to my place I am not able to  prepare for it and for that I and my family are having a hard time during pandemic and when supertyphoon hit our place as I got nowhere to run for help. I even tried to get some help in the other forum but I received nothing which is just okay for me. It took us 7 months to have our electricity and data connections being restored so that hurts us a lot. Government aid that time is not enough. If only I had a crypto on my wallet that time I maybe be able to give my family enough food and other basic needs since I can travel 66km from my place to the nearest signal available for an internet connection if ever I had to withdraw something from my crypto wallet or donation but yeah I had nothing. Haha so yeah I am just happy we have made it though we are still in recovery mode up until now.

Economics , Sociology & Politics / Re: Cost of living
« on: April 17, 2024, 02:59:35 PM »
The thing is just that the corruption rate us very high, what is ment for the general public, one man will siphon it or turn it to a family business, which is very bad, and it is affecting the country. Most natural resources that are to be utilized by the government for the betterment of the country are conveyed to one person. Cost of living is high as a result of corruption and greed.

Corruption is the reason Nigeria has failed to develop. The elites always want to benefit at the detriment of others. Sometimes I am forced to ask if our politicians do not feel the cry of the poor. Most annoying aspect is that even when relief materials are provided by NGOs few greedy persons will hijack it for their aggrandizement. This is the reason the cost of living continue to rise and impoverish the people.
Yeah this is a fact really and I can observe this scenario in my country as well most especially during crisis and disasters. Corrupt officials prioritize their self interest over the need of the victims who knows nothing about the system foreign aid has come but we only received local cheap products. I am wondering where those aids go? It sometimes includes high quality imported goods, financial assistance and many more that will become missing and won't be given to the ture beneficiaries. That hurts a lot for us ordinary people and it really breaks our heart when our fellow countrymen will deceive us in times of trouble.

I have a question. And why do you think developing countries can't just learn from more successful/stable countries ? Just borrow a model that has proven itself? For example, the Criminal Code, tax laws, and other fundamental laws that have worked well in other countries? It seems to me that in today's world, except for some "special countries", borrowing and adapting "outside experience" may not be a bad way to solve accumulated problems ?
In a way, we can take Singapore as an example, which has reformed quite effectively, essentially borrowing some solutions to fight very strong corruption. Thanks to Lee Kuan Yew for that. In my opinion, external factors aside, it is corruption that is at the root of economic problems in many countries.

It is not a matter of can or cannot, it is a matter of time.
The larger a country is in terms of population, culture, area, and low levels of education, the more complex the problems it faces and the longer it takes to reform.
That's why Singapore, can quickly reform its bureaucracy. They are a small country
Corruption is just a consequence, not the root of the problem.
The underlying cause is poor governance, led by poor leaders.
In a democracy, these leaders are elected by bad voters.
So the quality of the voters in a democracy will determine the future of their country.
Yeah exactly. People accepts brirbery during elections that is why corrupt politicians will have to make something just to recover the loss they've paid during the campaign period. This is what actually is happening here in my small country. When majority of these bad voters overpower the good voters we are left hanging and things will become worst as corruptions became more rampant.  I think we need a reform on this.

Bitcoin Forum / Re: SHOULD I CARE ABOUT BITCOIN HALVING
« on: April 17, 2024, 02:43:08 PM »
In fact, there is no compulsion to make everyone care about the Bitcoin Halving event,... but based on the history of Bitcoin Halving that has occurred, we have encountered a bullish market movement which has caused many holders to gain large profits in a short time. The price pump occurred after the halving... and it clearly made many people experience an increase in their portfolio.

So... anyone has the choice to care or not care about the Bitcoin Halving... and because I want to take advantage of this moment to gain greater profits, I decided to care about the 2024 Bitcoin halving moment this time.
Yeah maybe it will only serves as an indicator of something like an accumulation period for holders. For serious investors I think halving has significance but for us who can do nothing about the event I think we just don't mind it.

The effect is already showing on the price Now. (...)

I don't think it is though, at least not the effect of the organic demand for the newly approved ETFs.
I don't suspect they are already tradeable, it'll probably take at least a day or two. And if it's going to be anything like the US ETFs, will have to wait 1-2 weeks for the demand to pick up and be reflected in the price.
I think the true effect might be felt during the next bullrun as we can see red on market right now. More and more investors will push the price of these coins in the coming bull season we should expect that. Though Hongkong is not that huge but that is a positive thing on our side as cryptocurrency enthusiasts.

Gambling discussion / Re: The Madness of Gambling Addicts.
« on: April 16, 2024, 09:52:44 PM »
That scenario is quite alarming to me but not only being gambling addict do that because even competitions in gambling industry has that kind of violence or crime especially here in my country wherein POGO operators kidnap other operators workers then trade though the authorities have apprehended some of these operators and still they had an ongoing pursuit for this kind of activity as it is a national security threat since most of the involved individuals in this are foreign nationals.

I personally do not experience this kind of situation where online casinos refuse to pay my winnings but I heard rumors that I don't know if it's an isolated case but there are people online complaining for something like they are not paid but I don't know as well if it existed until to this day.

Cryptocurrency discussions / Re: Do you still believe in old coins?
« on: April 16, 2024, 09:43:24 PM »
Yeah especially with Bitcoin, Ethereum, Doge and others but this season a lot of investors are into the hype of new coins like Solana, Blast, Base as they know that it is way more profitable in this coins due to the hype. I am personally into it as well but so far haven't had a decent profit yet because I am on a trial and error phase so hopefully I'll get what my goal is.

Cryptocurrency discussions / Re: Stay away from crypto ponzis!
« on: April 16, 2024, 09:37:36 PM »
I think airdrops are much better in comparison to these kind of ponzi schemes though airdrops are not guaranteed profitable but atleast we don't waste our money. Sad to say there are still a lot of people who fell in this kind of investments nowadays, I just don't know why they are not getting the lessons from the past mistakes I think once is enough. 😅

Economics , Sociology & Politics / Re: Why do we pay taxes?
« on: April 16, 2024, 09:30:00 PM »
In a country, it is the duty of the citizens to pay taxes in order to maintain the development of the country. These taxes are imposed on the citizens by the government. In my country, they deduct it directly from the salaries of the citizens, in only government institutions only, and they are called the civil servants.
In my country income tax is currently made mandatory especially excise duty is levied on the purchase of goods.  But the government cannot run its country well without the taxes we pay.  It takes money to run a country and that money is collected by the government from the people called taxes.  Citizens at all stages of life have certain mandatory responsibilities from which the country has to be managed.  To manage a country, the government alone does not have to perform the responsibility, in this case, the citizens have to play a role in the economic development of the country by performing the responsibility with the government.  The biggest challenge facing the government in this economic development is collecting taxes from the citizens.
For me the only challenge was that government being too corrupt to even use taxes for their own interest as it is a given fact even in the early ages that we the people has to pay taxes as it is the norm but not the corrupt. And you are correct based on my understanding taxes runs a country and the lesser the tax I think it also has a lesser economic growth not unless a country is a wealthy one.
