I think I already suggested this elsewhere, but to post again in the correct section...
Giving credit where credit is due, include contributor badges for decentralized team.

Something along these lines:
- 5x reports of any of the following; plagiarism, spammers or multiaccounts
- 20x reports of spammy posts/topics and topics in wrong section

There's a handful (if not more) members I can think of that would be worthy for such a badge.

(Bump)

Seems like the reports for spammers & plagiarists are now much lower (which is a massive relief), but it's a shame those who spent a lot of time reporting plagiarists (in particular) didn't receive credit for their efforts, given that it appears to have helped in the long-term to reduce plagiarism on the forum.

It would therefore still be good to a have badge for "Contributors" to those who made a lot of these reports, as well as many who accurately report posts to mods to be moved/deleted/etc. If you create the membership group and badge, I'd be happy to add members to it, those who have remained active at least*. There's a lot of users here that have been around for some time that put in a lot of effort, soemtimes more than mods. Some recognition would be nice.

*If the President is also happy with this idea

a good idea, as a tribute to people who play an active role in fighting spammers, plagiarism, etc., of course this will have a positive impact on the development of the forum, there could be many members who are actively reporting the case

Good idea.
There is a dynamite impact of appreciation though more than words at least appreciated.

Seems like the reports for spammers & plagiarists are now much lower (which is a massive relief),
The reports decreased but I'm not sure if that's because violators decreased. It's more like previous reporters became inactive or have gotten tired. I have to admit that I skip a lot of posts in the general Altcoin discussion board and in trading now. I'm more interested in what's happening in other boards that are less visited.

PS - Welcome back.

From a brief overlook, I'd say violators definitely decreased, especially plagiarists. Spammers remain quite active but less aggressive. Over 100 users received plagiarism strikes for repeated offenses, I think over the course of the past year many would have acknowledged plagiarism isn't tolerated here.

^ Well I certainly hope that is the case. It's what we wanted when we started the drive to hunt plagiarists. Even though admin became even more forgiving and introduced new rules for removal of plagia strikes,  I'd still be happy if they really changed their posting habits.

From the membership group of 100+ with plagiarism strikes, only a dozen have been online in the past week, this should indicate quite a lot of success in deterring plagiarism. Of course 90% likely dropped the account and created a new one, but hopefully at the same time they learnt to avoid plagiarism in the process. If they didn't then get tagged as a duplicate account that is.

I agree with admin that having a means to remove these strikes is much more friendly than having them remain permanently. After all, if these users (once warned and watched) continue to plagiarize, they won't end up with any karma left to have strikes removed, or points left to have their karma removed. It gave users a second chance, but not multiple chances.

The main issue to me was that certain bounties (namely BountySuite) were allowing users with these strikes to participate in signature campaigns here, therefore having them removed was seen as unnecessary. Fortunately it also seems like this is a thing of the past. Hope that gives you further insight  :)

PS, think it was always quite lenient, and removal of plagiarism strikes was proposed in the same spirit by myself. Maybe it was different before though, can't remember.

it is so easy not to do plagia, yet some people don't want to put some minimal effort

In the same theme of sheriff and president, I've updated my proposal to be for "Supervisor" badgers (special membergroup) as opposed to "Contributor".

Just supervisor I think, those who supervise the forum and make reports. Contributor would be more for those contributing to the forum I think.
Only #admin really knows the answer as to when...
