Tesla CEO Elon Musk tweeted that he hopes rumors are indeed accurate, saying, "It would be awesome," that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission is investigating his frequent tweeting about dogecoin (DOGE).

The CEO of the manufacturer of electric vehicles, who has a hate-hate connection with the SEC, seems to enjoy the idea of another go-round with the regulatory body. Musk famously said "I do not respect the SEC" in 2018.

Since the SEC does not consider the meme-based cryptocurrency a security, it would seem unlikely to investigate market manipulation of DOGE (-8.7 percent) by that body. It is not out of the question, however, as the SEC is known to be tracking Musk's tweets as part of a settlement of charges that he committed securities fraud for misleading tweets.

It wouldn't be hard to find if the SEC were to start looking for evidence that the CEO was a vocal booster of DOGE, which is represented by a Shiba Inu dog. Musk was a frequent tweeter of memes boosting DOGE at one point, describing himself as the 'dogecoin CEO,' and while other parents could buy a puppy for their child, Musk tweeted earlier this month that he bought a DOGE for his nine-month-old son.

And, as usual, in response to Musk's tweet, the cost of the cryptocurrency rose. DOGE by Pavlov, if you will.
It was not immediately clear where the speculation that Musk is being investigated by the SEC began from. It is possible that it is a false rumour and an attempt to manipulate the market itself. The Tesla CEO is likely to be let down if that proves to be the case, having been denied the pleasure of his anticipated DOGE battle with the SEC.
