No I really don't think it can end poverty, not bitcoin specifically. It's just a means to have decentralized transactions between people. It certainly helps people maintain their money I suppose, rather than having it in the banking industry, but it wont magically make poor people more wealthy on it's own.
Now, blockchain technology in general, yes I think that could end world poverty, among other things. The applications are limitless, and incorruptible. I honestly can't wait till voting is done through blockchain, I'm sure there are tons of projects in the works just for that alone.
