For many years, every time the BTC price fluctuates strongly, whether it increases or decreases, we always have more articles condemning the BTC mining industry because it consumes too much electricity, even more than the electricity consumption of many countries^[1]. Therefore, Bitcoin mining is considered a dirty and harmful industry, which is also commonly used to condemn Bitcoin, in addition to concerns about the future of finance.

Besides negative criticism and wanting to destroy the Bitcoin network, we have many suggestions to improve the situation^[2], and after many efforts from miners, we have made great progress.

A new report by the Bitcoin ESG Forecast suggests that the cryptocurrency industry is taking strides to reduce its carbon footprint. According to the report, Bitcoin mining's use of sustainable energy has reached an all-time high of 54.5%. This means that more than half of the energy used to power Bitcoin mining is now coming from sources like hydroelectric, solar, and wind power. Bitcoin mining is now the highest user of sustainable energy among all primary global industries^[3].

The increase in sustainable energy use to a number of factors, including the following:

• The ban on Bitcoin mining forced miners to move to greener grids or sustainable off-grid sites.
• The development of new off-grid renewable mining operations.
• The increasing use of methane emissions to generate electricity for Bitcoin mining, which reduces the environmental impact compared to venting it into the air.
• Global grids are becoming greener at 0.7% per year.

This suggest that Bitcoin mining is on track to become a more environmentally friendly industry. It demonstrates that the crypto industry is committed to reducing its environmental impact and can play a role in the transition to a low-carbon economy.

From now on, we can circumvent many people's arguments that Bitcoin is too dirty and harmful to the environment. However, I would not be surprised if in 2024 and 2025 BTC anti-fans will continue to use energy issues to attack the crypto market. Regardless, the Bitcoin Hashrate will continue to increase and the network will become more and more secure 💪💪💪

The issue of energy and the environment is one of the most controversial issues and accusations surrounding Bitcoin. It is the first argument that we always hear from Bitcoin opponents that Bitcoin is the enemy of the environment and consumes a lot of energy.

Therefore, turning Bitcoin into a “greener and cleaner” would be a testament to Bitcoin’s innocence from all these accusations. However, I do not expect Bitcoin’s opponents (especially governments) to stop making these accusations or creating new ones to continue their attack on Bitcoin.

Basically, I do not expect that their main problem with Bitcoin is the problem of energy and environmental pollution, their main problem with Bitcoin is decentralization and privacy.

After bitcoin mining was banned in China, minus in Kazakhstan increase. Kazakhstan is using for fossil fuel to generate electricity and this reduces clean energy for mining bitcoin, but the percentage was still over 50% at the time.

At 0.08 % of global CO2 emissions, removing the entire mining network from global demand—and thereby depriving hundreds of millions of people of their only hope for a fair and accessible form of money—would not amount to anything more than a rounding error.

I found this research not surprising at all. The world are failing to tackle the real cause of global warming while bitcoin critics says their own wrong decision. The earth was warmest in 2023, but bitcoin miners are moving towards clean energy which proves the critics wrong again.

Politicians will not be able to attack Bitcoin because it is decentralized and private and too good for users to escape traditional finance with many crises. They will say Bitcoin is “dirty” and easily scare people and help them resist Bitcoin.

Some people are just bitcoin critics. They are spreading lies, people will not make findings and believe in the lies. Bitcoin miners were using greener energies than unclean energies since some year ago.

They simply do not want people to access Bitcoin to become their own bank. I think the media channels themselves have been bribed or forced by some very large financial/political power.
But at least we have truthful information that cannot be ignored!

Thanks for the research  , Critics keeps on growing  from the previous years through till date, I wonder if they are getting paid by the Bitcoin  cripplers or probably  they are  . The main carbon  generators aren't  taken care of , we need to understand  that the world's population  keeps  on growing and we are spreading our territory therefore increasing  the fact that we are carbon  emitters and thus the ongoing  wars are the some kind of joke to the ozone layers, we kept on depleting the ozone layers from mechs but instead we decided to put this on Minning energy sources .... People only believe what they want to believe, and they will only say things that benefit them. Sometimes politicians and news channels don't want to tell the truth, they want to say something that will get attention.

We currently have new generation nuclear reactors that use Thorium, they are safer than older generations, this will be a safe source of energy for us in the future. The fusion reactor is still under development and we need more efforts to achieve a commercial version. Bitcoin will be a driving force for energy scientists to continue researching and developing useful technologies 🚀🚀🚀

I laugh at this publisher who publish such articles saying BTC is causing great damage to the environment and it should use green energy. While they ignore other facts causing a great deal of energy consumption. I am not saying BTC doesn't use a great amount of electricity and other resources, but I am saying these publishers only need a story and to make a place in the hearts of readers, they have to add some spice to it. They have to use elevating words in them. So, newbies and those who had doubts about BTC in their minds will start to hate it already.

Critics feel the need to weigh in on Bitcoin's energy usage but never once criticized fiat's energy consumption.
If they believe in climate change, they encourage the development of renewable energy sources in unfavorable areas.

Most of us try to resist the desire to change. If you have a profitable job and get the opportunity of a lifetime to leave your job and start working in a company with a better salary, but the company is expected to succeed or fail within a year or two, you will prefer simple continuous profit instead of quick profit, and we have many examples in history. The most recent are Kodak and Nokia, so many are betting on the failure of cryptocurrencies, and when they realize their mistake, they have joined the list too late.

It's sad because many people don't understand BTC, or they don't profit from BTC, they want to do something to reduce the joy of those who are successful in the crypto market, and they want to believe that BTC is dirty and dangerous for world.
