Why are they worried about non-custodial wallets so much, and why did Coinbase exchange suddenly added support for Lightning Network?
As if regulators want for people to only use their ''approved'' services, so they can control where and when you are sending each sat 
I was never a big fan of Lightning Network and it probably going to be even more centralized than it is now...

It is possible that Coinbase will adopt the Lightning Network because it has a network that uses fairly low fees. This network makes it easier for Coinbase users to carry out transactions at fairly cheap fees, so this will make transaction costs at Coinbase even lower.

You did not understand what dkbit98 meant at all? He is not referring to transaction fee. Even lightning network fee is either zero if you connect to another person's node directly or just of very low fee if it is not directly. What he meant is that the United States are going against noncustodial lightning network wallets. Although, Wallet of Satoshi is custodial but they went against it also likely because the Wallet of Satoshi does not require verification of identities which should be through KYC.

What is this about "safer" and what could the blacklist do in a non custodial wallet?

Yes, I know that those are non custodial wallets but they have removed their apps from US stores and that's a sign that holding coins on such wallets might be risky to some extent. I know it's not necessary to move your funds from those wallets even if you're from US but it's always better to not use such wallets at first place which fear sanctions from a government.

If they aren't doing anything shady then they should not fear the government, but as we know that they have removed their apps from US app stores, and that's an indicator that they might be hiding something shady from government and from the users.

Unfortunately, with custodial Lightning channels that are opened by wallet providers to you, without your own money used for opening it, those are easily prey to KYC verification.

It is utterly moronic and stupid that we are now seeing verification required before people can even create a Bitcoin wallet, and yet here we are.

If you run your own Lightning node and open channels yourself then you don't get this kind of nuisance.

If I find a wallet that has to force us to do KYC then I prefer to avoid that wallet, the KYC I understand is at the exchange, if the exchange wallet I am willing to do KYC, but if the wallet is like this then I will not use it.
