Title: Will it be possible for Bitcoin to be like other national currency?
Post by: Gposas on January 19, 2022, 03:32:42 PM
We see Bitcoin as the world leading currency in the crypto community, looking at it's high value and popularity will it be possible for Bitcoin to become one of the world currency. Like will it be possible for Bitcoin to be seen, felt, owned and even carried around like the US dollar or any other national currency.
I wish this can be possible, what do you think?

Bitcoin is already a legal tender in El Salvador. It means it's already become the national currency.
Bitcoin is digital, thus can't have physical form, but sure you can own it.

Anyway, if the question is about BTC as world currency or legal tender in big countries, well, that needs a lot of work on the infrastructure side. Even a small state like El Salvador currently has many issues regarding to BTC usage.

Bitcoin cannot replace the currency of the USA or any other country. Bitcoin can replace gold, however. Because of its technology, it is not possible to use it in daily life. Transfers are very slow and it is not good to give commissions on every transfer.

Since Bitcoin has no physical form and cannot be used for various industries like gold can, I don't think it can ever fully replace it.

Correct. El Salvador has decided to make BTC be a legal tender there. So, surely BTC has become a national currency, the same as other national currencies. Even, it is already used as a payment tool internationally. However, there are still many issues related to the use of Bitcoin as a currency. In some countries, it cannot be allowed as a currency because it doesn't fulfill some criteria expected by the government.

I think acceptance will increase in time, even if there are plenty of jurisdictions that aren't too welcoming at the moment. It's just a slow process.

Bitcoin willn't become an alternative global currency. It will exist together with the national currencies of countries that, in principle, are provided with a overall product. Perhaps in the far future bitcoin will become the main world currency as an indicator of the country's energy supply.

One factor why a fiat is considered a currency is when a group of people - in many cases a whole country - is using it as a medium of exchange and usually it is made legal by the authoritative power of the state. In the case of Bitcoin, when people are using it to purchase things or services then it can be classified as a currency just like the usual fiat money whether it is being recognized by any country or not. The news of last year that El Salvador made it a legal tender is a breakthrough along this line and we are expecting that some other small countries will also do the same.

Although I love Bitcoin very much, I do not believe in the possibility that Bitcoin will become the national currency in many countries. Currently El Salvador accepts Bitcoin but other countries have not supported it yet. Governments who want to keep control of their finances through printing money are not going to give up fiat.

It is possible in some places but not at some places. Because bitcoin is banned in some countries, it is very popular in some countries. We all have a digital currency so we cannot get it in the form of another physical currency. But if it's possible in any way, it would be a great pleasure.

I don't think the government will accept bitcoin to become a national currency because the price of bitcoin is volatile, just imagine if bitcoin will suddenly fall and for sure many people will panicking, many people will lose their money. I guess bitcoin is good only for the other option payment and also for investment.

So far people in El Salvador dont panic after Bitcoin price dropped from 58K (first batch purchase), passed ATH and dropped to 30k. There were no people with forks and torches at the government house, no rally.

Bitcoin doesn't even have a physical form, so I don't think it could ever be exactly the same, unless we become an entirely cashless society on a global level, which I doubt will happen in the next few years.

Bitcoin is already an alternative global currency and can be used by anyone anywhere in the world to conduct transactions. But for states and their institutions, bitcoin, most likely, will not become a currency in international settlements. Therefore, in this sense, it will not be a world currency for states.
States will use their digitized central bank currencies and various regional CBDCs.

Bitcoin is a digital currency and I think it may not appear physical that anybody can hold. However, Bitcoin may be the world digital currency can can only be used side by side with the states fiat currency, and may not replace Fiats in my opinion.
I think Bitcoin may remain a digital currency but as time proceed,  many more countries may adopt it as legal tender and this may turn it a global currency.

Bitcoin will remain as it is now. Previously, there have already been attempts to change its form of walking, namely cards for 0.01, 0.05 and 0.1 bitcoins. But I do not see that such an innovation is fixed and began to spread. But who knows, maybe in the future they will come up with something about this. I don't attach much importance to this. As long as it's convenient to use.

Bitcoin can't be something that really cares about being a currency because Bitcoin was clear when it was first created that Bitcoin wasn't meant to be a currency, but rather a simple and easy transaction tool without any intermediaries.
I also see this Bitcoin has started to be accepted in all cryptocurrency markets around the world and even states like El Slavador are also buying Bitcoin for future valuable assets and this is really a good breakthrough for the country.

Although that it is a welcoming development for El Salvador a legal tender and making it a national currency, fiat is still cannot be replaced where it is widely adopted and used for now. It’s not easy to make this a legal tender coz’ I know other countries are slowly trying to follow suit (like what Ukraine is doing recently). It can replace gold though.

Even Russian government now with the btc adoption and they have accept it. But yah sooner or later , Digital currency will be used over world wide and we may see btc adoption every where soon.

In some countries, we have seen that Bitcoin is legal as a legal tender as a currency to be used as fiat in the country. Although it is still debatable, they are legal.
But in some countries, it may be difficult to be done because of some reasons. One of them is because of complexity of crypto itself that is decentralized and government cannot control it.

Agree with this, bitcoin will be global currency but unlike fiat currency.
Bitcoin will be payment method , but in digital transaction.
Bitcoin is decentralized platform, It's difference to fiat money or national currency.
Fiat money is centralized system that can be controlled by the government.

It has possibilities. But it is small enough. For a country that actually accepts Bitcoin as a legal tender, they can use Bitcoin as a currency as well. And they may have a problem but they can utilize it.
But, it is also difficult because many countries still don't allow Bitcoin as a curency, only as asset for trading or investing.

Every country has a currency and Bitcoin can be used as a legal payment if every country that accepts Bitcoin makes rules and laws for the legality of payments in their country.
Everyone can own Bitcoin, because that is the purpose of satoshi, and in some countries, Bitcoin ownership is not prohibited, but there are some countries that use Bitcoin for payments such as in coffee shops like Starbucks https://www.foodandwine.com/news/starbucks-bitcoin-frequent-flyer-miles-payment-gift-cards

Bitcoin has a very unique and good image, Bitcoin is a digital asset and not a currency, in other words Bitcoin will not be a currency or legal medium of exchange in the country but Bitcoin will only be a digital asset as a tool or object in the country. exchange market.
For the country of El Salvador, which has adopted Bitcoin as a state asset, even the President does not dare to make Bitcoin a currency, and in El Salvador, Bitcoin is a digital asset.

You are right, in fact, in my country there are many stores where BTC is beginning to be accepted, such as Traki Stores, which in addition to accepting BTC also accepts USDT, TRX, this is thanks to the great adoption that is taking place little by little, which More curious is that the government does not have any type of repercussion, I do not know if they have made any prior permission or something like that, but I do understand that they are not only accepting BTC there but in other stores but in a stealthy or discreet way.

I don't think bitcoin needs to take physical form. A decentralized cryptocurrency is not designed for this, and if it does, which in principle, it is possible that it will lose many of its advantages and become vulnerable.
A few years ago I heard that one of the commercial firms issued physical cards that could be exchanged for 0.001, 0.005 and 0.01 bitcoins. Apparently, this innovation did not find support, because several ways of probable fraud are added here.

Of course, bitcoin cannot be similar to the national currency of any state. A decentralized cryptocurrency has completely different principles of circulation that cannot be accepted by states, and therefore the cryptocurrency has no chance to displace fiat. Therefore it will never happen. Cryptocurrency can and should retain its principles of decentralization, but at the same time it will be a completely separate financial asset that will occupy its niche in the global financial system.

Bitcoin and other crypto-currencies can never be similar to the national currencies of states, neither in form nor in their functionality. The recognition of them as a means of payment, although this does not happen so often, has nothing to do with this issue. Cryptocurrency is rapidly gaining its popularity precisely because of its features, which sharply distinguish it from national currencies. Digital form, the possibility of transactions without intermediary banks, relative anonymity, the impossibility of complete control, all this will be lost by cryptocurrency if it looks like national currencies. And so far, this is impossible to achieve.

if the question is why not? yes everything can happen and nothing is impossible, but is it realistic? It must be remembered that each country that makes electronic money still refers to the money of the country that issued its electronic money, and is only used in its country.
while bitcoin is nothing to regulate and control, he moves because of the trade that occurs, of course it will be different from electronic money.
It must also be remembered that not all countries can and are willing to accept the use of bitcoin for every transaction.

In fact, bitcoin would be enough for all the inhabitants of our planet who would want to use it. After all, there are one hundred million satoshis in every bitcoin. With a shortage of bitcoins, satoshi would go into action, given that the price of bitcoin is very high.
Bitcoin cannot become like a national currency or become an international currency in settlements between states, since it, like other decentralized cryptocurrencies, is completely different from the requirements that apply to the national currency. But it is worth recognizing that it is gradually becoming obsolete. Altcoins are developing rapidly, while Bitcoin is almost standing still in this respect.

In future if this is possible then it will be the national currency in just the USA or other powerful country becasue this time this is the world best business where people will invest their money and they multiply their money in just a small time and they change their life through this business.

I think it will never happen.
The big country such as USA will allow bitcoin or other crypto currency.
That seems just hoping but forget it.
It's impossible to happen bitcoin will be national currency

Without any doubt this is possible mate. Even there is many country right now in this world now legalized BITCOIN as their payment method. In fact, we called it legal tender world wide. Even Russian government now with the btc adoption and they have accept it. But yah sooner or later , Digital currency will be used over world wide and we may see btc adoption every where soon.
No, bitcoin cannot be similar to the national currencies of states. The national currency can also be in digital form, but there are too many differences between fiat and cryptocurrency for them to ever be similar. Cryptocurrency will always be with fiat and fiat will be dominant, at least as long as the state is the form of social structure.
In Russia, with the adoption of cryptocurrency, things are bad, and in connection with the attack on Ukraine, it will be even worse. In order to make it difficult for capital to flow out of the country due to increasing sanctions, it is likely that they will go for a complete ban on cryptocurrencies. Time will tell. But the fact that cryptocurrency will not be completely allowed there is for sure.

It will reach a position above them. It will reach a status like gold and silver. It has the features to do this. I have high expectations from Bitcoin and other major cryptocurrencies. Because humanity needs them too. Inflation and personal banking experience make them the only solution.

Bitcoin is being successful in making national payments in the form of digital, but it will not become a national currency, it does not seem to be realized yet, because still many countries are not ready to accept it.

This will never happen. Cryptocurrency and fiat work in completely different ways. And since all processes in our world are controlled by states and their governments, they will not allow cryptocurrencies to rise above their national currency. Bitcoin cannot be similar to the national currency, because in this case it will lose the current attractive status that the cryptocurrency has. There can be no middle ground between crypto and fiat that would have their common useful features, since these financial assets are simply incompatible.

I think It's just rumours if we talk about bitcoin will be the national currency.
Every government have own rule and consideration, and bitcoin is anonymous.
I think It won't be.

Yeah, It can be but I don't It will happen.
Because  the several government against bitcoin and crypto currency
I don't believe bitcoin to be like other national currency.

Even other government country are against with Bitcoin or cryptocurrency,
It is still undeniable that there are many countries that accept the concept of Bitcoin, and it is also undeniable that there are many large companies known around the world such as apple that accept the concept of bitcoin.
Therefore, it is not physically touchable but can be exchanged for any currency in different countries, so for me, it is still a king currency that can be said and an opportunity for everyone who wants to try and find out what bitcoin is.

Bitcoin’s price was volatile Friday following the release of data from the Labor Department—following its trend this week of dipping and diving as investors decide what to do with riskier assets.
Bitcoin at first rallied with U.S. stocks—and when U.S. stocks rally, Bitcoin tends to do the same. The asset has been closely related to equities this year as investors holding cryptocurrencies have been trading them like tech stocks, according to data from Arcane Research.
