Although most crypto enthusiasts fight against KYC rules, I see that there are users on this forum who have verified themselves in this way.
Can I get an explanation, of why KYC is implemented here and what are the advantages for users who are verified? OK, there are parts of the forum that have certain limits like Women in Crypto and I guess that's one of the reasons. Is there any other advantage for such users?

How does one even go through this process? "Manually" or is there an automated method?

There was an idea that some bounty campaigns can probably be interested in forum KYC verified users, to accept them rather than others. Those who wanted to take a chance in such campaigns got a way of passing KYC. It is totally not mandatory. As you can see, I'm here for over 5 years and never passed KYC and will never do. But some users like the idea of getting an additional badge, it's their right.

How does one even go through this process? "Manually" or is there an automated method?

I usually do KYC in this forum it's my personal security.
Because I used KYC for more security of my account. 
Usually if my account gets hacked, I can use more simple methods to recover my account.

I would not complete kyc verification on any forum.

There is no separate benefit for KYC verification. But if your account is hacked then you can recover your account with kyc documents it is also not a big advantage. Because wallet signing is a stronger verification process than kyc documents, so the account will be hacked and you can recover the account only through wallet signing. But kyc is done by many to get a Verified badge on the profile which makes a campaign manager or escrow providers more trustworthy. but for the general users there are no benefit for kyc verification. and kyc is also not necessary.

Yes signing a message with your BTC address posted here on the forum is the best option for recovering the account but the problem is not all members already posted an address here unless they are teleported here from other forums that already have stake addresses from other forums.

There is another benefit of having a KYC verification only for those who are not aware of KYC halving there is a difference between non-KYC and KYC verified users when exchanging their points to ALTS check the admin post from this link below.

For some, it obviously makes sense to do KYC, but for those who are much more careful about such things, it will certainly not be an option. I personally would not do something like that because I am very careful with such things, and even if we start from the assumption that the forum staff does not have any bad intentions with such data, there is always a possibility that they fall into the wrong hands.

No matter how we look at it, there is no doubt that this is something new, especially for members who teleported from the BTT forum.

That is one good reason since it is not mandatory to provide KYC and it is just our Option to make , and also having KYCed can give users more advantage of the forum (but of course in in the real life as security is what crypto users wanted to have)
maybe I will consider this when I get into higher ranks but for now since I am teleported I will enjoy my being newbie and will dig more .

KYC is not mandatory in this forum, but if you can complete KYC, your account security will increase several times. Only KYC is completed for authentication,

KYC is often used for some bounty campaigns or like investor purpose. We may see it in withdraw tokens from forum such as ALTT tokens where it will require soon.

I am also kyc verified, and when I applied to be kyc verified, it was solely for bounty purposes, like some users have mentioned here, there was a time when bounty campaigns were very much active on this forum and most of them preferred accepting members with the kyc verified badge into the campaign as they believed that such users can be trusted not to cheat.

Aside from the above, I have not seen any other benefit for being the kyc verified forum user, except there are some benefits to it our admin will introduce in the future, that we are waiting to see.

I didnt know that those services might get hacked. That my data was going to be in the cloud,  where hundreds of computers  could access it, those services could be hacked, etc...

Nowadays I am much more selective before handling my personal documents.
I wouldn't share them for a couple of dollars in an airdrop.

I don't think KYC on this forum was ever serious enough like centralized exchanges are using nowadays with third party partners, selfies, documents, etc.
Honestly speaking, it's not so hard to ''complete'' most verification without ever actually completing it, if you know what I mean

You can always comfort yourself. Just imagine Pi-coin (a friend asked me about it today) which has several million users, most of whom have given their personal information for KYC. Everyone has the Pi app installed on their phone, they operate within that application every day. And on top of all that, a coin is worthless and will probably never have value.
So a huge number of people gave all their data for nothing.

Sounds like a good reason to complete KYC. Maybe signing a message is the best way to prove ownership of an account. But since they said the KYC is completed manually, it could be that the data is somewhere safe offline.
