Where did you hear about that? Did you hear it or did you read about it? Sometimes rumors are deceiving and will lead
you to wrong interpretation to certain kind of things. It is better to check the source of news first and authenticate it.

I think  ripple a scame token  but I’d hesitate to buy their financial crypto asset, as it’s clearly geared towards banks and not individuals. As such it’s not really a currency per se, at least not for regular individuals.

Ripple is not a scam project, though many sees Ripple (XRP) as a centralized platform, and that it design for the banking sector.

 Well, the claim is that a decentralised currency is harder to manipulate by any one organisation or bank, since the control over the currency is spread on so many hands, meaning all the miners – and anyone can mine (at least if you can afford a GPU these days). That prevents banks or states from freezing your assets, for instance, which actually has happened, with Julian Assange and WikiLeaks being a prominent example. Such a asset-freezing simply isn’t possible to do to most cryptocurrencies.
