In this article I set out to investigate Cardano and Polkadot, the two most promising blockchain usability platform proposals for DeFi and Dapps.
I will analyse the differences between the two based on the issues that have the greatest impact on the development and operation of the networks.
Quantitative data is from February 2021.
Delegation
Polkadot
It has nominators and validators.
When nominating, tokens are locked for 28 days.
The nominator can lose DOT as punishment if a validator is sanctioned for misbehaviour.
There is a minimum amount of DOT required to earn rewards. This amount is dynamic.
It can be delegated to up to 16 validators and once pools are chosen to produce blocks, the protocol will choose one of those 16 validators to support with your nomination.
A pool is “oversubscribed” when it has more than 128 nominators. This means that only the top 128 nominators, as measured by the amount of nominations assigned to that validator, will receive rewards. All other nominators do not receive rewards.
In order to manage a validator pool, a minimum amount of DOTs is required. This amount is dynamic and depends on certain factors.
Annual yield: ~ 14%.
Cardano
Cardano has delegators and pools.
Tokens are not locked. You can move them whenever you want.
There are no penalties, Cardano works with incentives instead. You can never lose ADA, you just might not collect rewards if a pool doesn’t sign blocks in an epoch (every 5 days) or collect less rewards if it gets saturated with delegation.
There is no minimum amount required to earn rewards. You only need a deposit of 2 ADA to register your wallet (returnable upon delegation cancellation) and 0.17 ADA for the one-time network transaction fee.
Pools can become saturated. Any delegation that exceeds 100% saturation decreases the rewards per delegator, which incentivises some delegators to seek out unsaturated pools, thus promoting decentralisation of the pool network.

This blockchain are different because they have distinctive features, to me it doesn't do justice to either one of them neither does it indicate a failure in one over the other because Cardano blockchain was design different, Polkadot on the other and are more like an addition to what the previous blockchain didn't include in their chain, but still both have the capability to get the job done.

Right now Both are good for community, everyone interested about dot & cardano. Both project are not fully updated, many works still not complete. For example - polkadot launching parachain auction & Cardano also planing to launch smartcontract. So my point of view, both are good & solid project.

that's right, both are good community, I see both is very potential for investment. But I think it depends on what invest do you want to do. I see cardano rank is number #5 and polkadot number #6. I think you can invest on both.

In my opinion, Cardano is too strong for Polkadot to beat so I think Polkadot is not capable of beating Cardano at this point.
But all cryptocurrencies must have an opportunity to beat each other because cryptocurrency is not regulated, where there is an event from a coin that is able to build a community then that is where the cryptocurrency can take off.

I am seeing more potential in Polkadot than Cardano. Polkadot has much more functionality and offer many features with low fees. And it is getting more and more popular day by day. I am very confident about DOT and i think it is going grow more day by day.

Both Cardano and Polkadot are good coins, they have great platform as well. So, if you have some funds, it is better to invest in them. I don't really know about them in details but as a whole, both the coins are good enough. Especially if you consider it from their ranks on coinmarketcap, they are indeed the top coins.

Polkadot needs even more space to overtake Cardano because Cardano when there is a Dump can quickly get up again.

that's right polkadot and cardano are so close at CMC, I see they have good competition. But I personally prefer in cardano than polkadot. Maybe other investors have own analyst about both. Every one have own consideration.I think. It depends what coin do you like.

From the two coins you have discussed here, two coins make cryptocurrency much more popular. However, we have no doubt that Palka Dot Coin will be far ahead of other coins. I saw the info on Coinmarketcap for a comparison of the Cardano and Polkadot coins around 400 million USD in marketcap coverage, it's quite a big comparison of these two coins because I'm sure with that value I can build a new altcoins.
But I also believe that Polkadot can be able to compete with Cardano because I see from the demand for Polkado coins that the market is really very large and the ecosystem of Polkadot is also very large and has spread widely in the cryptocurrency environment.

A very comparison for us to be able to choose both because I believe Polkadot and Cardano are 2 coins that have their advantages and disadvantages but I have to choose between these two coins for a more interesting discussion of this thread.
At this time will choose Cardano coin because Cardano is a super nice coin from the community since 2017 and 2021 is a very super change for Cardano coin has launched Smartcontracts just like Ethereum coins.

Personally, as long as Hoskinson is involved with ADA, I’ll avoid like rotted meat. The dude has the emotional maturity of a child and I wouldn’t follow him on an Easter Egg Hunt.
