Nayib Bukele was re-elected with approximately 85% of the votes, which in concert earned him the total majority of seats in the assembly. A numerically important victory for a president who for his second term seems to want to continue the path started in terms of Bitcoin integration .

Saw the news and I was not surprised that he is going to win, it's the numbers that make me says that he is beloved by his countrymen. I mean 85%? that's the biggest percentage that I have seen a President won. In our country and if I'm not mistaken, the biggest lead was like 70%.

And with this win, it means that El Salvador will continue to be a pro-Bitcoin country.

Hopefully the country will thrived, and with the incoming bull-run, for sure the government's Bitcoin reserved could make a huge profit.

Here's an article for this news
https://www.forbes.com/sites/digital-assets/2024/02/05/el-salvador-embraces-future-with-bitcoin-as-bukele-secures-historic-victory

85% is such a huge percentage it solidifies the country's ongoing Bitcoin adoption, athough there are opposition from IMF they remained his administration remained consistence on his policy of Bitcoin adoption, we will see in the next few years if the people of El Salvador made the right decision of adopting Bitcoin as their legal tender.

They are going to be a model once they become successful in their adoption.

Nayib Bukele was re-elected with approximately 85% of the votes, ...//
...//....

85% is such a huge percentage it solidifies the country's ongoing Bitcoin adoption...//...

The dominance was such that in 2019, with the vote of Salvadorans abroad, 3,808 immigrants voted, in this election according to data from the TSE + 150,000 votes, mainly from the United States. (Data=https://www.tse.gob.sv)

It is an unprecedented fact for any elected president in the history of El Salvador, and his winning percentage places him as one of the democratically elected presidents with one of the highest percentages of votes.

Now, this result has nothing to do with bitcoin or adoption.

Bukele is a very important figure for El Salvador. I don't know if there is any other politician in the world in modern times who has received as many votes as he has. It must be wonderful to be elected with 85% of the vote. No doubt the most important reason for this is his successful fight against drug gangs in his country. However, part of this success is also due to his approach to Bitcoin. He is a president who deserves praise in every sense.

I don't live in El Salvador, so i cannot say it is good for his people only because he was the president to sign into law that BTC should be a legal tender in El Salvador. However congratulations to Bukele, and as regards BTC adoption, i am sure he would continue to push it, even though there are only a few people in the country that use BTC as it should be used.

Maybe but we all know that El Salvador is the first country to adopt Bitcoin as legal tender, so technically it has something to do with it and winning the Presidential race will kept Bitcoin at their country, at least when he is still the sitting President.

And that might effect other nations in Lat-Am maybe to follow that Bukele did for his country as far as Bitcoin and so, who knows, the numbers will grow in the next couple of years, hence adoption is increasing as well.

Neah, Bitcoin had nothing to do in this election, Bukele didn't focus even 1% on it as there was a lack of interest around it lately, it was all about the gang war, but the next one he will have to come up with something else and if economically he doesn't have much to show he might choose to ride on Bitcoin success, it will be 2029 by then so probably 6digits numebr and not starting with 1.

It also shows the world that accepting change and involving crypto to your nation could be a good voting block as well. He did something dangerous for his nation, something that would not be easy, plus he did so during the bear run as well and price hasn't even recovered and even with all of that, he still managed to win. I am not saying a USA candidate could win elections with just this, but it is a great example for other smaller nations. If you are a politician in a smaller nation and win the elections, adding bitcoin as legal tender could definitely make it possible for you to win the next one easier.

Hello,
No, he did not win for making bitcoin legal, or even for giving away $30 in the Chivo wallet, he won for taking action against corruption and the armed gangs that ruled El Salvador since the 80s, he has converted this country in 4 years in one of the safest in the world.

So, what weight does bitcoin have in the results as an influential aspect of votes, in my personal opinion that I follow the topic, less than 1%.  Yes, if we ask a Salvadoran, why he votes for Bukele;  they 99% would respond, the issue of security, corruption and social issues.

Making BTC a legal tender isn't the reason why Bukele won this election, if you look at the number of people using BTC in El Salvador, you will understand that BTC was not tge reason why he won, only a few people are interested in BTC over there. I know Bukele would continue to push the BTC agenda to his people, but i hope more people become interested, because for now the interest is far from impressive.

We also know that he is fighting against the gangs that have taken over the judiciary in his country. You know that gangs are not only groups with weapons. Some groups do not have weapons and are more dangerous than the gangs that carry weapons. That's why Bukele is very popular in El Salvador. When politicians eliminate pro-coup groups, they find great public support. I live in Türkiye. Our recent history is full of coups. Our stability in elections has been in favor of the person who eliminated pro-coup groups for the last 20 years. This is why Bukele is so popular in El Salvador. However, even if it is not understood today, one day his Bitcoin initiative will be appreciated by the people of El Salvador. One day, even if no one in his country appreciates him, we will appreciate him for his courage.

So, what weight does bitcoin have in the results as an influential aspect of votes, in my personal opinion that I follow the topic, less than 1%.  Yes, if we ask a Salvadoran, why he votes for Bukele;  they 99% would respond, the issue of security, corruption and social issues.

It's quite fumy that there are more people, 88% that haven't used Bitcoin in the last year and only 1% of the total remittance is being sent via BTC, if Bukele would have gone in his campaign with Bitcoin he would have slot that's the reason he kept it quiet and put it all on the gang war.

I live in Türkiye. Our recent history is full of coups. Our stability in elections has been in favor of the person who eliminated pro-coup groups for the last 20 years.

And, speaking as an outsider, don't you think that at some point you need to elect somebody does does something else about the country also? Because I certainly doubt everyone there is enjoying the race on inflation with Argentina like a football match. You know, something like when Churchill lost in '45, he was the hero of the war, but the war was over, it was time for something else by someone else!

Bukele is a young president and a loved one in his country. Someone who gives positive energy to other countries when he visits them. Being friendly also gives him plus points. The 85 percent voting rate is really high. He made his name known to the world thanks to Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies. At least that's how people like us who are interested in crypto money recognized him. Otherwise, there are young and cheerful presidents in other countries. If Bukele wasn't interested in crypto, I wouldn't know him. I wish Bukele success.

I agree that the reason why many bitcoiners are familiar with Bukele and El Salvador is because they are the first and only country to make BTC a legal tender so far. But BTC adoption does not mean success for Bukele, too many people in the country don't use BTC and the reason why he was the election was surely not for BTC, there are more important things in the lives of people in El Salvador and their bad economy that the president has to address.
