To invest in Ico, you need to have ether balance in your wallet as mostly the Icos are ERC20 and they only accept contribution from ethereum.
Next, visit the Ico registration page and fill details. Copy contract address of Ico and send your ether to the copied address.
Now when their is distribution time, you will automatically receive tokens in your etgereum wallet.
Note that you must use myetherwallet.com to be able to receive tokens, exchange wallets doesn't support tokens.

To buy ETH(most needed cryptocurrency to purchase tokens) try Coinbase .Open account,send some fiat,wait 2-3 days and buy ETH from your FiatOf course,do that over coinbase exchange Gdax,is tax free.
After you have bought your ETH you need to open some ETH erc20 wallet.MyEtherwallet is the first choise,you can´t do anything wrong with that.
Now you can send your ETH from Coinbase to MEW and from there you can send ETH to buy ICO tokens.
First 2 steps are done,now you need to do some good research about projects of your choise.
Whole thing is more complicated for noobs then you think ,but if you have done it one time you will never forget it.
