What are members views regarding downloading wallet to receive airdrop? I do not do it as I feel it is possibly unsafe access to laptop.
What do members think of having to send ether to receive airdrop? I do not believe this to be a genuine airdrop but a donation to an ICO.

Some tokens and coins are on their own blockchain, that's why they might require you to download wallets if they are not yet listed on exchanges.
As for donating to receive airdrop, that i can understand, as sometimes processing 1000-10 000 transaction can cost a lot of ether, it is better that the promoter developer cover this, but sometimes the airdrops are simple tokens for ideas... that's why in our airdrop section we ask the person doing the airdrop to make sure he has enough ETH.

you can try by yourself, if the airdrop need to sending any ether, dont take it, if the airdrop doest need a deposits, take it

Like most things I think the answer depends on the circumstances. If it is a tiny amount of ether then it is legit. Though I can see how some people might try to abuse things by asking for more ether than necessary. As for wallets I have only been asked to download established wallets so not a problem though I would probably be suspicious if it was a brand new wallet.

Thanks for sharing this information with us. Now I will delete a suspicious software...

Always use virustotal.com for such software and suspisious links.

60% of all wallet based airdrop failing with virustotal.com

I don't feel safe by downloading a wallet for an airdrop...so most of the time I just give up all the "please-download-wallet-airdrop"
I'll be fine with an online wallet though.
-
one needs to be very careful about the wallet download for airdrops.. scammers are very active nowadays.
-
I rarely participate on airdrops that need to download wallets. It's very dangerous, especially if is a shitcoin without a known team behind it.
-
i personally dont buy the idea. there is 85% chance for a pass than to download a wallet to receive airdrops.
-
downloaded a couple wallets and ethcash scanned with malware issue.
-
Lots of opportunities there
-
always a bit concerned as well when I have to download a wallet to participate
I've only done the ether donation thing once or twice and I think it worked once
-
I don't download random wallets. I only stick to ERC20 tokens and web wallets.i can't in a bid to get tokens risk my personal data or expose my pc to inadvertent mining for someone else.
-
I too feel its not safe to download wallets , try to avoid them as much as possible .

Same here. I am very much afraid of downloading wallets.
Who knows what it's intentions are.
Maybe if I have a dedictated pc for it. I will
But for now not tryin that

I downloaded one wallet to my laptop and it did receive tokens
I don't like to join airdrop that I have to send either
there are so many airdrops everyday, who knows if it is good or bad
-
I downloaded a wallet to receive airdrops and fortunately, the coin proved to be profitable. I don't plan on participating on airdrops that require me to send eth, that's too risky already.
-
I do not download wallets which are new and have no authority before and also skip those airdrops which ask for download a wallet.
-
I have my judgement for airdrop, first take a look how many airdrop (if too low I better skip it) and if you need to install a wallet, you can virus scan it first on web and this the important thing Install it on your virtual machine, you can backup it later after ICO and development ongoing as seen on roadmap since most of them just abandon project after ICO. About sending ETH to contract address it's normal since ERC20 token need gas (if you ethereum user you know what is gas for) and It can so costly if you have to sent bulk token for many address that's why they need small fee ETH to cover it.
