More than $260,000 in digital assets were lost in a coordinated phishing attack against Yuga Labs, the creator of two of the most popular ape-themed NFT services, Bored Ape Yacht Club and OtherSide. According to a Twitter user’s inquiry, Boris Vagner, Yuga Labs’ community and social manager, was the victim of a hacking attack on his Discord account. Once the scammers gained access to the employee’s Discord account, they shared phishing links from Vagner’s Discord into the official BAYC, Mutant Ape Yacht Club, and Otherside groups...

There have been eight significant cyberattacks, hacks, and exploits in the second quarter of the year, totalling $445 million in stolen assets. Many Discord servers have been compromised in the first two weeks of June alone, with reports of 41 intrusions between June 1 and 10th. As a cautionary suggestion, we would like to remind everyone that any investment in digital or tokenised assets, no matter how modest, should be done with very careful consideration, and it’s always best to stick with projects that have had a number of audits and security checks by blockchain security agencies to minimise the chance of losing money.

Hackers attacked and took over Nouns DAO’s Twitter account. Normally, phishing mint attacks in which a hacker gains privileged access and posts a phishing link take place on NFT Discord servers, but in this case, it was carried out on Twitter. The attacker distributed fake phishing links to a bogus raffle for Nouns 355 and 356. This was followed by the attacker creating a Twitter account and inviting listeners to participate in the phishing raffle.

    • FC Porto becomes the first European football team to jump into the Upland Metaverse.
    • KPMG has made its first foray into the metaverse by launching its collaboration hub.
    • Crema Finance suffered a flash loan attack losing roughly $8.782 million worth of assets; OpenSea reported their email data breach.
