actually those who are comparing these two are the people that does not know what bitcoin and ethereum is, and maybe they are just  spamming the forum just to gain activities .
Bitcoin and ethereum is not here to compete but to serve its users , if you are comportable to one blockchain then you are free to use whichever you believe and trusted.

Yes, you are right, these two coins are a bridge between users who have Fiat currency to make transactions from the purchases they make and use Bitcoin or Ethereum as their means of payment, because so far Bitcoin and Ethereum price movements depend on how many receive transactions using cryptocurrency, the more people who accept payments using cryptocurrency, the higher the price of these two coins will be on the exchange.

What's the problem with waiting for the price to drop and making the transfer? It's not that difficult + it's not always that expensive. And if you're buying ETH (going forward), why constantly transfer from one storage location to another?
