the value of Ripple has risen considerably, I understand that it is mostly due to the speed of your transactions, however, it is a centralized currency, which is a big risk. What do you say?

Ripple is not decentralised so there are some risks associated with an investment in it. If you just do it for an investment go for it, believing in the currency is something else.

3 weeks ago I would have said not to touch Ripple because no bank will ever buy a coin from an investor. They will get all their coins, essentially for free, with their Ripple Labs contract. And I'd tell you it's a closed system where only banks can validate transactions so banks could collude and modify the blockchain and change rules as they see fit. So worthless to buy. The last investor to buy the coin loses it all.

But regardless of whether it really started off as a coin nobody but other investors would buy, suddenly Ripple Labs was looking at a coin worth a couple billion dollars. Built up in value on a dream by those who either did not understand what it really was or somehow invested anyway in what it could be.

Ripple Labs isn't stupid. They have this enormously valuable asset now. They will transform it into what the market always believed it was. A payment coin that can handle a tremendous number of transactions that can be used to buy stuff. People tell you the downside is that it's centralized? Ripple has announced intentions to decentralize it which means to turn it from a bank coin to a cryptocurrency that competes with LTC and BCH.

So, where can this go? While people are building lightening networks to speed up Bitcoin by removing the blockchain from the bitcoin transaction (so, not really using it as Bitcoin then, are we?), here's a real coin that is really lightning fast.

So,  now, I'm hot on Ripple.

How do you think it compares to XLM? To me they both solve the same problem, but XLM gets less hate. Thoughts?

I‘m holding both XRP and XLM. I think XLM gets less hate because they are not that close to the „evil“ banks.

Ripple is a good crypto to invest in for a long term.  It is working with banks,  so banks will push the price up to get the attention of the traders. You know banks likes to be in control.

I think Ripple is a good coin to invest. Although it is pumped by some banker recently, I still believe it will come back very soon. Unlike other Scam coins, this coin is supported by big financial institute. That meant, this coin will hard to go away, it will always there.

Same here.  I think they both have good potential in the long term.  The main concern of a lot of investors I've spoken with is the number of total coins available, which will severely dilute current holders if and when the additional coins are released.  On one hand, it makes a lot of sense from a long term perspective to have a sufficient supply if the product is super successful, since the coins were all generated at the genesis block and it's not possible to create more down the road.  But I do think it makes potential investors nervous.

I own ripple and I bought it at 20 cents. A majority in crypto community
is against ripple since it supports centralisation (since ripple is mainly
used for cross-border payments between banks). But in my experience,
ripple has got the fastest transactions among cryptos. I have transacted
in Bitcoin, ether, litecoin, verge and many other cryptos. The only one close
to ripple is stellar and now nano (XRB rebranded to nano). I have always
got my XRP under 1 minute everytime. So even if it doesn't have any other
utility, this itself is enough to keep some in my portfolio. And when I need to
trade between exchanges (arbitrage), I first check whether both exchanges
have ripple trading. Then I convert my crypto to XRP and then send to the other
exchange so that I can trade before the price difference between exchanges
gets reduced.

So this is my greatest utility for XRP... Using for cross-exchange payments
for arbitrage trading (versus cross-border payments between banks which
is the utility mentioned in whitepaper)...
