They can't check everything (all coin history). They would block a lot of people who doenst even know what mixers are  , and probably even block coins that came from another cex. Mixers exist for a long time  and the amount of coins whi has ever been in casinos or mixers is enormous.

I've worked in the Risk department of a CEX, and all transactions were analyzed by an AML/CTF algo. On the other hand, it's a set of factors more than the transaction itself that can lead to the transaction being frozen. Each user has a Risk Score based on the frequency of deposits/withdrawals, the amounts, the origin of deposits, their country of residence, and the SoF questionnaire they filled in on registration (income, expected volumes on the platform, etc.). Clearly, coins with a history with a casino or mixer aren't a problem if they're the user's only red flag, but if other flags are present, they'll use this as a pretext to justify asking for the origin of the funds.

There is no mixing in such a situation, there is only a strongly-worded letter from the three letter agencies to the chain analysis companies demanding them to mark all of their UTXOs as safe so that they do not trigger any AML violations.  Any believe it or not, they comply with that stuff. It's like the whole AML score classification is a complete joke.

When we look at all the seizures over the years, maybe we could say that those who fight the most against the mixers are actually the biggest "mixers" and turn all the "dirty coins" into clean ones. Of course, they profit by doing so, and in such a way that their fee is only 100%

USDT can be locked (at least as far as I know), regardless of which service/wallet you use. The USDT unlocking procedure can be tedious as well.

Thank you for the very useful information. I had no idea how CEXs analyze and make decisions on user accounts. In the past, Binance has also frozen user BTC related to CoinJoin, so I am quite worried.

I hope that the silly proposal related to crypto Mixers will not be passed and users will have one less worry about Mixers.

I wouldn't say this is safe, everything is public they can always make them ''unclean'' later if they want.
There are many cases of addresses on ethereum with tether tokens being blacklisted before.

That is true on ethereum blockchain, but I am not sure how if it works that way on all other blockchains.

As far as I know, USDT can be frozen on ETH and TRON too.

I understand the logic, but in my opinion in this case, using Mixtum or any Jambler based mixer would be better from a "privacy perspective", or swapping BTC for XMR and back to BTC again (but would probably be expensive to pay for the 2 swaps + network fees).

I didn't know that the EU geniuses would do it, but it has been a big wish of some people from the ECB for years, especially their chief CL, who otherwise has a similar position on cryptocurrencies as, for example, the well-known SEC chairman. Given that I do not use stablecoins, this decision will not affect me, but it is really funny to me that they are fighting in such radical ways against everything they consider a threat to the euro - but they are obviously learning from their political brothers across the big pond.

They feel threatened ^{at least for the Euro}, so they decided that it is best to ignore the problem.  The old school of politicians really needs to retire, they have a hard time adapting.

They feel threatened ^{at least for the Euro}, so they decided that it is best to ignore the problem.  The old school of politicians really needs to retire, they have a hard time adapting.

Even users who do not hold usdt can be affected. I think stablecoins are among the best altcoins out there.

Stablecoins are a convenient and somewhat private (more than banks). I have received a few times as a webdev, and converted to btc.
