I think Both of them are good for investment.  Ripple is bank coin and more stable. Ethereum is smart contract,  It is more popular and King of ICO

I suggest for now it's better for HODL Bitcoin because Ethereum and Ripple have indications of following the price of Bitcoin.
The two alcoins cannot stand alone without the need for Bitcoin.
