Since the gas fee of Ethereum is still alarming, I guess it's a very beautiful opportunity for other alt coins like Sol, Near  Ada and others. Considering their gas fees. Two years is quite a short time for these other coins to make progressions to Ethereum considering it's current price. Yes , I think the problem of Ethereum is high gas fee.
I hope Ethereum team will have solutions for this problem.

I thing, Polkadot, Cardano, Solana, and many others might have been inspired by smart contracts popularized by Vitality and his team but there will be no other Ethereum. Polkadot which currently has a very good ecosystem, Cardano, Avalanche and also NEO.

There are now popular altcoins that are making many developments and are considered to be as "Ethereum Killers" though that term can really be debatable. With the way things Ethereum is solving its scalability problems, it seems to me that it is finding it hard to solve the gas issues and as a natural reaction many are shifting their eyes with good alternatives. As of now, Solana, Cardano, Polkadot are making their stakes on the market...that is aside from Binance Smart Chain which has been the top choice as Ethereum alternative.

IMHO, I think If the trend will continue I guess it's more likely the Binance Smart Chain (BSC) will claim that spot, as the next Ethereum, otherwise, those competitors like Polkadot, Polygon, Solana, etc. will make a drastic move to innovate further in order to catch up the BSC supremacy as the leading alternatives to Ethereum Blockchain.

Yes ,I agree ,.I think the best candidate for Ethereum is binance smart chain from BNB.
This coin is more cheap and faster.
Many projects already migrate and used BSC platform now.
