I actually think that adding two kinds of links would be more a burden than a benefit. If you don;t like the referral link then just remove it from the URL.

I didn't notice this until you mentioned what happened in the forum, so let me ask you, is that the reason? If it's true then to avoid drama I think it's better to ignore each other, otherwise I'm sorry for thinking about it.
Yes, adding two different links might be burdensome but you could have a disclaimer about the links are referral links. However, that's not needed but if added then I think it won't impact the site in anyway.
