Of course investing in Bitcoin is risky, as is any investment which has the potential to give the level of return that Bitcoin does. In terms of keeping your investment safe, the following points might help slightly.

Bitcoin is as safe as any other asset as long as you safeguard it as much as you would anything else. Obviously the ways to keep it safe are different compared to traditional physical assets, but it is just as theft-proof (or not) as cash/cars/gold etc. The amount you own also reflects on how much effort you put into keeping it safe, same as the reason I wouldn't carry around $10,000 in my pocket, but happy enough carrying $50 for a night out.

Some quick tips.

* Only buy it from reputable exchanges (I like this review site, lots of options and graded on a number of factors https://www.bestbitcoinexchange.io/).
* Double (triple) check any addresses that you are sending it from/to - one wrong digit/letter and it's unlikely you will see it again!
* Store it in a cold wallet that only you hold the private key for access (https://trezor.io/ or https://www.ledgerwallet.com/ are two well established and trusted wallets, but there are more out there).

Just like any other investments, bitcoin is risky. Because of its high volatility, fluctuations could lead to significant losses on the part of the investors. It could also be a subject in cybercrime, and cyberattack.

Well I will say it is and it is not. Once you make investments, anything can happen. But if you weigh bitcoin, you'll realize that it's a very good coin to hold.  But since it's a crypto, it can die. But then I don't really think it's gonna die.

Indeed. Without a doubt. Sad to say, all investments bring some risk of losing money. Bitcoin is structured to be deflationary. It’s just too volatile. This virtual currency is known for wild fluctuations in price. So remember to invest only those you can afford to lose.

Your private key is important dont give to others or else you lose your bitcoins or altcoins.

Bitcoin will never come to an end, perhaps will go down with the end of the world. The best thing to do is to safe yourself from this FUD and get your hands on some BTC. The big bull is about to make another giant leap, and you cannot afford to miss out this time.

Security? Unless you decide to breech the secuirty yourself by a simple mistake you make. You are the master security of your own Bitcoin and no one else.

When investing there is always a risks. Regarding bitcoin don’t worry it isn’t going to end, all you have to do now is gain more knowledge in bitcoin and start investing now before ou miss out the bull market in this coming year end. The security measures of cryptocurrency is depending on you, how you manage to hide your private keys and never give it to others or by mistake display it on public threads or address. Just be more vigilant and responsible in your private keys so that it remains secured.

Investing is always risky. But if you know the game, there is no risk at all. You just have to follow the pattern and the rules. In Bitcoin, a lot of people are investing and most of them become rich. So before we invest in bitcoin, know first how to play this risk.

Bitcoin is indeed a risky investment if you want to consider it that. The way I've viewed it for a few months now is that either Bitcoin or another digital currency is going to rise to extreme importance over the next few decades. Bitcoin is of course is poised to become this currency in my opinion, no competing currencies seem to have as big of a following/support and I doubt major companies such as google would want to get involved with digital currency and quite frankly I'd probably only trust a "google currency" other than bitcoin.

I disagree! Even how secure the system was created there will be a time that it will be compromise. Even how it is transparent it is still vulnerable to hacked most specially if the owner doesn't have such being careful attitude. Risks is always there but everyone must be risk taker with proper understanding towards the possible situations.

It's risky, just as risky as not doing anything though so, I guess it depends on your perspective.  Inflation will eat away at your money if you do nothing with it, most bank investments wont do enough to even counteract that though.  Bitcoin is the only way out, well cryptocurrency in general, for most people.  If you lose your investments, are you really any worse off than if you didn't invest at all?  However, the possibly benefits you can receive far outweigh the risks, in my opinion.  I'm in it, success or failure, till the end.  But, I truly believe blockchain is an important technological step for humanity to advance itself, so it's an easy choice for me.

The higher the price of bitcoin, the greater the risk when investing it. Here, as always, ordinary human greed will work. At large price values of bitcoin, there is a greater probability of panic, which can lead to a very large drop in its price. People will simply worry for their high-cost bitcoins and react quickly to bad news regarding crypto currency.

Bitcoin is secured as long as you keep your private keys or keystone safe.  It is also important to equipped ourselves with enough knowledge to secure our asset.

Well I haven't seen any money making venture that is risk free. There are risks associated with money making activities and bitcoin is no exception. But you should ask yourself whether the risk is worth taking. Bitcoin can collapse no two way about that. But do we know when? So don't invest your "life's savings" into it. About its security, you are solely responsible for the security of your bitcoin wallet. There are more technologies out there to secure your bitcoins for you.

Best to know more about bitcoin before you invest because bitcoin price is very high, big losses if you invest without knowing the trend and status of bitcoin in the market. Buy bitcoin when price is at dips then hodl because bitcoin is best in long term investment. Hodl bitcoin and do not sell bitcoin at a lower price because it will rise back, patience is the key to have good profits at bitcoin.

basically, everything has risks. Similarly with bitcoin. the risk is indeed great, but the results obtained are also great, I think it's a reasonable thing. for it we just need to learn, not to minimize the risk of happening to us.  for it to find the right wallet is properly secured and Nice is one way among others.

I thought you will be talking about the movement in the market, anyway security of bitcoin wallets is there already most probably is how the user use it to let it be more easily accessible to the hackers like sharing your password or even opening links that you does not know. Bitcoin is more risky in the price to me and not to the security part.

It is risky because the price is too volatile and it can go both ways whether you will earn big or lose big so you should always have risk management so that you can take advantage of the opportunity to earn from bitcoin. If you are a conservative investor then bitcoin is not for you because it would be for risk takers. Anytime, your government may decide to ban it so it is risky given that they do not have any regulations yet applicable to cryptocurrencies.

where is profit you have to take some risk there. I will state it is and it isn't. When you make ventures, anything can happen. In any case, in the event that you weigh bitcoin, you'll understand that it's a decent coin to hold. Be that as it may, since it's a crypto, it can kick the bucket. Of course! but what is not risky? Life in general is full of risks.

No one can hack anything. Users do not care about their passwords. They lie where they are easy to pick up. They go to the wallet from other people's devices. The wallet should be on a separate device.

On this wallet 1.5 billion dollars. - 0x0000000000000000000000000000000000000000 . Why it will not be hacked? Change the last digit to 1,2,3 and so on. Few? ;D

wallets do not crack. Mostly they steal passwords. This is not hacking, but stealing. You need to keep it better.

There is no doubt about it. Bitcoin is truly a very risky investment and we should keep this in mind at all times. This cryptocurrency is extremely superbly volatile. In just a matter of seconds, its price may increase / decrease by as much as 20 - 50%. Although this could mean potential huge profits, this also could mean potential huge losses. Remember, never ever invest more than you are willing/able to lose.

Bitcoin, like all crypto currency, is moderately risky. However, the higher its price rises, the more risky it becomes to invest in it. The growth of bitcoin in the price will be a dead end for it in development and will inevitably lead to its depreciation.

Yes the key is management of risk because however bitcoin is risky Google security lead, Mark Risher, cautioned crypto traders against boasting of their cryptocurrency portfolio on the internet.

Mr. Risher warned that gloating of one’s virtual riches risks attracting malicious actors such as cyber attackers, citing an uptick in attacks targeting the owners of cryptocurrency wallets. Mr. Risher asserted that many of said attacks can be traced back to a post made by the victim on a public message board – attracting the attention of scammers.

People bought bitcoin at mere few cents and dollars and sold it at price of thousands. Then there were people who bought it at 18000-19000$ and they are still crying out for their losses. It screams that bitcoin is risky.

As far as online security is concerned, we can never be too sure. So its better to take extreme steps to ensure our security.

Depends on us who run it. Because the risk that exists in Bitcoin is mostly created from our mistakes and negligence in making decisions. If you want to minimize the risk. We recommend that you deepen your knowledge about Bitcoin and know widely about Bitcoin and its markets. If so, then later you will be able to overcome all risks easily.

With a price gain of more than 4,000% in a little more than two years, Bitcoin was definitely in a bubble by most definitions, Randy says. And while the price has fallen more than 63% since the highs reached in mid-December, it is still up more than 80% over the past 12 months, so it’s important for investors to understand that investing in Bitcoin is extremely risky, he says.

All cryptocurrency are risky, as the saying goes. Crypto currency is a highly volatile in nature, invest amount that you are willing to loss. Do not expect to triple your investment in just few days or months always expect the unexpected.
Security, always remember to keep an eye on your wallet. Secure them like your own life. If someone hack it, then it's impossible to return back your money. So keep safe always.

The problem of security when working with cryptocurrency is becoming increasingly important and over time this problem will only worsen. Hackers are inventing new opportunities for access from exchanges and our wallets, and the majority of citizens, who don’t really know how to protect themselves from hackers, will incur large material losses.

There are so many ways to earn on bitcoin feild. And I believe that the risk of bitcoin really depends on how we do act or inderstand how crypto works. We cab earn bitcoin without any risk through joint a bounty campaign but it is really small amount compare on investing and trading, but bointy hunting is less risk than any other ways because we don't have t put a capital on it.

“Bitcoin’s dramatic rise and fall has been driven primarily by supply and demand, not valuations,” Randy says. “Bitcoin doesn’t have earnings or revenues. It doesn’t have a price-to-earnings ratio, price-to-sales ratio or book value. Traditional value metrics simply don’t apply, so there are no current methods for assessing its value.”

Financial loss: Bitcoin prices historically have been highly volatile, and fluctuations could result in significant losses for investors.Fraud and cybercrime: These already have occurred. For example, in 2011, Japan-based Mt. Gox, then the largest Bitcoin exchange, experienced a security breach in which 850,000 Bitcoins worth approximately $450 million were stolen. In November 2017, a cryptocurrency called Tether reported a $31 million theft.
