I think, yes, bitcoin still has the mass interest and popularity, because most of the people is only using altcoins as a stepping stone so that they can exchange it to bitcoin.

The FUD that abounds of late affect all cryptocurrencies not alt coins alone and here, Bitcoin is struggling to meet the $7K and stay for even a week. And even with alt coins like Tether and TRON, they seem not affected by the FUD and other threats posed on the crypto market as they have maintained a constant pace of rise.
