Bitcoin popularity is still speeding and has not drop,rether it's increasing everyday. There are alot of in interest on bitcoin and block chaoin technology.; and this is the one of the reasons why there are many ICOs currently on-going and we are expecting new more to com. I know there are pump and dump ICOs but there are also genuine one out there, and whether pump and dump ICOs or genuine ICOs, these has immensely increase the awareness of bitcoins and altcoins generally .

People still love bitcoin and believe in it, its the original coin and by far the most popular coin.  However it's sort of expensive for small amounts, and alt coins can provide something cheaper to play with, like dogecoins.
