For now, I see ripple is a threat to bitcoin. Ethereum is struggling to rise now. So I think Ripple is more potential than ethereum.

There is a big between the two subjects in the analogy. First bitcoin do not wear out like how our physical body does. Second, cryptocurrency can become relevant and used by many if it is already known or popular.  So for me physical limitations is not what really matters, it is the usage that keeps a coin on top. So if ethereum succeeds then it could remove bitcoin from the top but as of now this whole idea is quite very far from happening.
