Is it possible for governments to track a Bitcoin holder?
« on: July 14, 2018, 02:22:21 AM »
Bitcoin holders are strictly anonymous unless the holder gives out his identity, you cannot tell an individual owning  particular Bitcoin wallet. In countries where Bitcoin is strictly illegal, governments can only track a transaction Hash to a particular location but not a particular user.

I agree with you, though it is tough to hide identity nowadays. Is there any way to track our transaction by IP address?

Bitcoin holders do not disclose their identity so it will be very difficult to track a user of a specific wallet. What can be done is to know when the transaction took place.

s it possible for the government to track a Bitcoin holder?
I think the government will not track who has bitcoin or people who invest in bitcoin because people who participate in business investing in bitcoin there is nothing to harm the government and instead benefit the government

It is definitely possible.  All transactions are public record and anyone can look at the ledger to see what transactions went where.  Assuming the government can find out which wallet is yours, they can see everything that has come out of it and gone into it.  If you're looking for privacy coins though, I recommend using Monero.

It is not possible for the government to identify the Bitcoin holders because the holders are anonymous and cannot to traced unless they give out their identity.

No because bitcoin is decentralized and no government can make it centralized in all sides of bitcoin. Maybe in the future if bitcoin system change to centralized.

Government can do it if the owner of bitcoin is inhabited in the legal country with regards to bitcoin. Holding the copy of personal identity can easily trace the owner. But in the country that bitcoin is prohibited, everybody have the rights to keep quiet. Silence attitude can save us.
