Even as a newbie you can start your crypto anytime when you feel comfortable, however i will advice you start to do bounty campaigns first to earn coins while you study about crypto at the same time. I agree investment in the top of coins in the marketcap especially in ethereum and when price of ethereum in low price, then they can learn more about the cryptocurrencies especially on the ICOs projects, while they have found the good projects can use their ethereum to invest in the ICOs projects.

You can buy crypto and hold for long term, I have done it in last year.

It is not always the case that newbies on the forum are new in crypto some started investing in bitcoins but didn't know about forums until recently.
