Wasabi wallet shutting down Coinjoin

Wasabi wallet developers just announced they are shutting down their Coinjoin service with coordinator Zksnacks starting June 1!
They will continue working on Wasabi wallet but only as regular bitcoin wallet, there won't be anything that improves bitcoin privacy.

Wow, just right after Samouria was seized by the U.S and their founders arrested and charged for conspiracy to commit money landering, Wasabi are taking the 'careful' step and backing out from enhancing privacy for bitcoiners.

I know Wasabi f'd up when they started blacklisting certain utxo's from their CoinJoin, but it remains one of the service people use to stay anonymous and it is kind of sad that it is going down as well. The government is definitely going to win this 'fight', and there could be nothing left of privacy in a few years from now.

Anyway, i'd like to mention that without controvesial CoinJoin and coordinator, Wasabi Wallet is fairly decent wallet. I said that since use Tor by default, implement BIP 157 (which allow retrieve relevant block from node privately) and automatically connect to your own node (if you run one on same device).

It proved that it doesn't really matter what you are doing if regulators really want to shut you down or arrest you.
That doesn't mean we should all give up and surrender now.

Some people criticized Wasabi, other criticized Samourai wallet, both sides claimed that the other one is working with regulators and analytics companies.
And now we don't have functional Coinjoin anymore, that really sucks   

Trezor hardware wallet is also dropping support for Coinjoin on June 1st, and that is no surprise for me after their partner Wasabi wallet done the same thing few days ago.

Their privacy already has been questioned by the community since they started the partnership with the blockchain community, i think this is just the avenue to bring out their real self and true colour to the world, if not, they would have stand their feet for the privacy they have always being talking about even despite the strike of government on them, its just that am not happy the way government are acting because they don't want the best for us, it is we that they are indirectly attacking.

Whose privacy? Are you talking about Wasabi partnering with a blockchain analysis company? If that is what you are saying, it no longer matters at this point, they have shut down their CoinJoin service, the government have taken down Samouria, and the bigger picture is two privacy solutions down and many more to go in the weeks and months ahead.

As reminder, JoinMarket still exist. But who knows if government aim joinmarket's developer or operator.

I guess even Trezor don't want take risk by running their own WabiSabi CoinJoin coordinator.

I knew it, after what they've done to samourai, now they're going to chase every wallet and mixers that improves users privacy. I know that this is bad for us that values privacy that much. But on the other hand, they have to do their job in tracking and cracking them down because dirty money are also flowing on it.

When Wasabi Wallet is just a regular wallet, it's just like any other Bitcoin wallet, maybe just a few different looks.

But won't there be new innovations related to privacy,
because the US government always prohibits the level of privacy they can't control. 

Could there be a new move from Zksnacks as the developer of Coinjoin, on this banning issue.
I know this is forced to be done, but it is necessary to create a new alternative.

As reminder, JoinMarket still exist. But who knows if government aim joinmarket's developer or operator.

I know it exists but it is not as nearly popular as Coinjoin or other privacy options, but I would love to see some stats and comparison if possible.
Agencies are now targeting everyone who is offering better privacy, and they appear to rush things and prepare for some big changes in the world.

I saw initiative from someone to create decentralized coordinator system for Coinjoin, so let's see what happens with that.

It's cat and mouse game, so yes I expect to see new innovations in privacy.
I think many people got lazy in last few years, and now they have fantastic motivation.

Some decentralized solution would be the only option imo.
A true decentralized application (an app which cannot be stopped once started running) would be amazing.

What I was reading is they are trying to use Ring signature from monero and combine it with Coinjoin, that would eliminate all centralization with coinjoin coordinators.
Something similar like coinjoin already works fine inside wallet of other coins like BCH, with ElectrumCash wallet, but this would not work good in BTC because of much higher transaction fees.

This high fee is temporary. We won't live in bull run forever.

yes I had read the news, truly sad news for the whole world like when the regulator targeted pgp years and years ago
This makes it clear what the regulator is aiming for and what it wants to achieve

This high fee is temporary. We won't live in bull run forever.

Even with very low fees this would never be usable in Bitcoin like it is in BCH electrum cash with cashfusion.
Wasabi wallet will never introduce this feature, so it's not really that important for this topic.
And I think there are better chances of bitcoin getting full banned (after they introduce mandatory CBDC) than fees going back to 1 sat/vb, but keep on dreaming.
