Title: Why we can't open Quote in new Tab with CTRL + Left Click
Post by: Faisal2202 on February 21, 2024, 05:21:42 PM
As the title says, we are able to open links in a new tab if we press and hold the Ctrl key and then press the left click on the mouse. It works on every link, but specifically on this forum, it doesn't work on the Quote option. As I have to press the right key of the mouse and open the list to press on the option of "Open link in new tab".

I hope we can also open the quote link by shortcut keys as well, or is there some error on my side, because AFAIK there must not be any, what could be the possible reason behind it?
First I thought I should ask this question in chat but I thought it would become lengthy so I made a topic here and will share the link there as well.

It's more in technical way on how anchor links works with onclick="" attribute. Shortcut such as ctrl + click only works on links without the onclick attrib. It's because onclick attrib is read first before the href attrib.

But if you use ctrl + mouse scroll click or ctrl+middle mouse click, it will sure work.

Ctrl + Mouse scroll click works, thanks for the information, it really a technical talk, I don't get too much of it but I will look into the terms you provided. I did not know there were such things to consider but thanks for bringing it in front, +1 for the valuable answer. You are doing great by the way. I actually use this shortcut to open quotes instantly of multiple topics at once.

And the right button of the mouse is making me issue like I have to press it a little hard, it made me to ask this question because I was getting frustration vibes from it, well I guess asking questions really solves problems, even if they are small ones. So, now only the admin can change the att?
