I have seen in some days now that Ripple is doing pretty well in its market cap, it is currently on the 4th position in coinmarketcap, So I want to ask if Stellar can overtake Ripple.

It is not impossible that Stellar will surpass Ripple coin because Stellar is also a compititive coin and has the potential to rise in the crypto market.Stellar will be rising high by 2019.

First of all friend, you are not correct on the state of Ripple (XRP), the coin had not occupied the 4th position at CMC for the past 1year or more, rather, on few occasions XRP has managed to be at the number 2 position over Ethereum.
As for stellar, i think that in the future XLM may overtake Ripple on marketcap, but it may take longer time to achieve.

I am thinking the opposite way. Looking at Stellar I dont see huge progress at all. XRP is commonly used because of the low transaction fee and fast confirmations. XLM may also do it but I think there are not that much of people who uses it. I have even a feeling that it will die a few years from now or may become just a shitcoin.

Nothing is impossible in crypto specially for XLM to beat XRP. XLM is now on 14 th rank and XRP is on 3rd rank. Stellar have to pump at least 1000% which is very difficult but not impossible. Chainlink recently entered into top 10 which was over 50 ranks in the last few months. So, it is possible but difficult for XLM to beat XRP now.

yes ripple is popular altcoin for short term tradings lot of investors are using this coin for short term investments currently the price of ripple is too low although ripple has huge market capitalization than stellar so it is not easy to beat the ripple but stellar will come to 6 or 7th place in CMC .

Ranking number is not the factor actually because you can see the DOT and ADA coin that has come to market very recently but they are now in number 4 and 6 position. So i think potentiality is the main factor. So if any team can make their coin strong, they can defect any coin any time. So let's see what happen in next days.

Stellar I think it's a matter of time before it's possible. The current stellar coin is priced at 0.34$. Ripple, on the other hand, is priced at 0.44$. In terms of price, it is still far behind the stellar ripple. So I think it will take a long time to overtake the stellar ripple. Steeler is a very popular coin. Based on the current Ripple court battle with SEC, it very possible for Stellar to overtake XRP.. Stallar has been doing very well, it has created great records since the last 3months and I think that overtaking XRP is gonna happened very soon.

I'm betting that XRP will take off once the lawsuit clear up. It's all about the free marketing and exposure from the law suit. FOMO of the coinbase crowd will make it explode once it gets back on. I got a bit at $0.27 and am holding for $3.00 after the lawsuit.
My stella has not been so fortunate... I think both will go up over the next few years, but Ripple will be better for long term since it's a bit different than the rest of crypto.

I don't think Stellar can outperform XRP, neither financially nor in terms of projects. They both have very different functions and also target very different niche markets. Stellar would need a big injection of money and that won't happen now, I don't think it will ever happen, it would be like comparing bananas to eagles.

Just one major difference, Stellar is decentralized and Ripple is not decentralized. Anyway I like Stellar. I think Stellar Coin can easily overtake Ripple Coin.

Cryptocurrency market is not something that is impossible. The position or price of XLM can be greatly improved. It depends on the #DevelopmentTeam . It is difficult to predict when and where popular currencies will move. However, investors who have been investing for a long period of time must monitor. I think XLM can certainly go in a better position than Ripple, but there has to be popularity.

It's too far to beat Ripple even though Stelalr and Ripple are in a team development environment.
Ripple is too strong for Stellar to overtake because Ripple is very strong in various funds and supported by various communities of wealthy people.
Perhaps Stellar is included in Coinmarektcap's top 20 list is also very lucky because this Stellar is possibly the second son of Jed McCaleb after Ripple. This is only my opinion .
