Reading the posts from the linked topic, it seems to me that the forum has some prerequisites that must be met in order for the activity to continue after it is frozen. It is obvious that a member cannot continue to progress when it comes to activity points if he does not meet some other conditions, which is good in a way because it requires a lot more time and effort.

Maybe it's a little strange that we don't know the exact formula, but still the next rank that someone can reach after Legendary is Mythical, so it is logical that the progress towards that rank will be somewhat mystical ;)

The exact formula is to reach a certain number of activity, in this case 2,000, and the time that the user has been connected to the forum. This formula is different for each range, and the waiting time until the activity is counted again depends a lot on each user. I seem to remember (I'll try to find the post) that my activity counter also stopped when it hit 2,000, but it only stopped for 48 hours or even less if I remember correctly.

As you say (I hope many people read this thread to understand it better) the important thing is to be active and participate in the forum, this way the activity will continue to increase and almost without realizing it our account will rise in rank without long waiting times. Spending time thinking that our activity is not counted will only distract us from the main objective, be active in the forum.

Cryptocurrency discussions / Re: Anonymity - good or bad?
« on: April 24, 2024, 08:32:38 PM »
Governments (of any country) always do everything possible and more, so that citizens have less privacy in our lives. Fear is one of the best weapons to control the population of a country. Governments use fear to make us believe that when a person wants privacy and anonymity it is because they are a criminal, but no, this is not always the case, and in many cases they violate the right to privacy of citizens, as occurs with facial recognition. The right to privacy was written a long time ago, at least the text that would guide current rights.

The Right to Privacy.

Forum related / Re: Karma can no longer be converted into Tokens
« on: April 24, 2024, 08:05:05 PM »
I don't think certain activity is required to rank up in Altcoinstalk. As far as I know, the only requirement for ranking up is the number of posts. I checked the thread about Everything about Ranks and Ranking, there wasn't any mention about activity. I am not aware of recent changes, so please let me know if I'm wrong anywhere.

A user's activity is not just a certain number of posts. A user's activity is made up of several factors, such as the number of posts and the online time the user has spent on the forum, you can see, for example, your statistics at this link. On top of that, the admin is working on an update, where users will have to have at least 0 karma (that was the original idea, but there may be changes) so that the account rank can increase. When that karma update is released, there will be 3 factors that will decide rank increase and how long an account activity will be frozen for a given period of time.

More information about the karma update: Karma 0 = your rank will go up.

Unfortunately, Binance has a policy that we must follow when we trade on its platform. Usually they will take action for those who make transactions with very large amounts, criminals or not, the exchange cannot even detect it, because we as users can fake the identity we use.

It is true that users can use fake identities on Binance (and any other centralized exchanges), but with many limitations, and that can be a problem over time. Users can use various VPNs and proxy servers to hide their true IP, but doing so is the beginning of the problem. Exchanges may (at any time) modify their official TOS and increase KYC/AML requirements, requiring users to take photographs with their ID, videos or any other type of documentation, such as telephone bills, to know in which country that user really lives. Users could falsify that documentation, but that would be a crime.

You're absolutely correct
It's just like going to the fruit field and gathering several varieties of unripe fruits into one basket without actual checking or knowing which ones has the potential to become ripe overtime and which ones would get rotten before it even becomes ripe.
Picking all the fruits doesn't mean all would get ripe and be useful to you, the hopes of knowing that at the end of the day, at least one fruit or maybe two would get ripe and can be eaten would be enough reason to inspire you to pick as much fruits as you can.

That's also applies to bounty hunters, they do all those bounties even when they know that not all the projects would be successful, but if they're able to get at least one or two successful projects, it'll be enough to cover for the stress they went through to perform those bounty tasks

I totally agree with you. It's something I don't understand, and it's also something I would never do, since the time needed to participate in all those bounties I prefer to use on other things, like looking for new interesting projects, for example. I still hope that some really good project will be released among the 50 memecoins (and scam projects) that appear on the market every day. But as I always say, everyone with their time and effort does what they want.

I dont know them  ;D
If they are not hidden can you give us the list of currently active moderators and potential candidates? And is this all free or paid positions like in bitcontalk forum?
I am interested to see what happens in next forum elections, and voting could be interesting.

When I finish making the list of the new moderators that we are going to propose, I will try to write a post with all the forum moderators, active and inactive, although it will take me some time. No, the moderator position is not paid on this forum, local moderators, modz and global moderators are not paid.

The next elections are not far away, a little more patience and we will see what happens.

Unfortunately in my country there are still many who do KYC as they please and they don't care that their identities are bought and sold on the black market. We can find a lot of KYC in several new projects, even at airdrops, sometimes they are also asked to complete KYC to get results from the tasks they are carrying out. we've done it.

There are many projects, scams and other projects that are born abandoned with a single purpose, to obtain all the private data of all possible people. In addition to all the cryptocurrency these "teams" can get by selling coins/tokens, users' private data will not only be sold on DarkNet, but will also be used for other scams, phishing, and many other criminal acts.

There are many users of airdrops, ICOs and similar, who have been involved in serious problems since scammers have used their private data to commit crimes. That's why I try to maintain my privacy as much as possible. I wouldn't want to be involved in someone else's crime, which could cause me a lot of trouble until the truth comes out.

The reason why you still have a large number of users applying to bounty campaigns, despite the fact that they are not being paid well, is because 90% of them are using multiple accounts to try to accumulate more rewards for themselves.

When I say multi-account I don't just mean two or three but like 6+ accounts - that way, if they were supposed to get $8 from their campaign they would use multi and get 6-10 times their normal rewards.

In addition to what you say (something we must always fight against), I think that for many users participating in a bounty is like a "lottery", it is possible that these users do not care too much about the number of coins/tokens they are going to receive, but rather the possibility of participating in 50 bounties (for example) and that finally 1 of them is really a valuable project with a future, which can give more benefits. In many forums I have seen rewards that were obviously not going to generate benefits for the participants, not even $5, but many people still participate.

And where in all of this does the word “technology” or “manufacturability” appear? The fact that it is among the top popular ones, we already know, is it deserved from a technology point of view?We all know that the synonym for the word investor is money. This is what we should start from, no matter how sad it may sound. Or maybe there is a lot of technology in the memcoins that have proliferated?

I think your comments can have several points of view while still being true. It is true that when we talk about an investor, we talk about money. But, it is also true that where the most money is invested is in technology, since it is one of the most lucrative industries. The most ironic thing about all this is that the investor does not have to know anything about technology, since a large part of these investments are based on market studies and private analysis. So, from a general perspective, technology matters, even if it is not always understood in depth.

Binance will not lack users because so far only the Binance exchange has a very high demand, Binance has its own policy to keep the exchange safe from some individuals who do have the goal of demolishing Binance.

Making certain decisions, such as listening (and obeying) certain governments to limit services to citizens of some countries, can demolish Binance from within, due to maybe incorrect decisions. It is true that Binance has the largest volume, but let us remember that CZ had to step aside so that the problems did not become bigger and more serious.

In the history of cryptocurrencies we have seen exchanges that seemed "untouchable" by market volume. But one after another they have fallen. Binance, one day and for various reasons, may be next. Preventing or making it difficult for the citizens of a country (any country) to use the services of an exchange for political reasons is not just an example of how rotten the world is. It is a sign of servility.

Suggestion Box / Re: Global mods

We thank God for that testimony. Because there was discussing going on on the BTT.and some users over there were saying that altcoinstalks is the center for spamming and since you are a active participant here in the forum, you have more experience than those who are arguing vague over there. We thank God for your zero spam technical board. But don't forget they will occur when the board is populated. But for now the users in that board are few and when they are more then you definitely see more.

Spam is usually more focused on some specific subforums. I'm not saying that we never find spam in the subforum moderated by @bitmover, but depending on the type of spam, like new memecoins, the spam is concentrated in the memecoin subforum, it's just an example. We can also find spam that is posted in many subforums, but this type of spam is always easier to eliminate, since you only have to go to the list of posts of that user. The more activity a subforum has, the more spam it receives.

Forum related / Re: No option to self moderate threads here?
« on: April 22, 2024, 07:59:24 PM »
@Fivestar4everMVP, if you would be so kind, I would like you to put here an example of those spam posts that take days to be deleted. I don't know where you get that information from or what makes you think that, since it is very far from reality. As @Jokers says, the clearest cases of spam can take hours at most, and in most cases they don't even take hours.

Moderation on this forum is active and many posts are deleted/moved every day to maintain order. Before making statements without verified data, as you have done on more than one occasion, ask for information and it will be shared publicly whenever possible. Thank you.

Ask a Moderator / Re: Moderators in forum
« on: April 22, 2024, 07:19:05 PM »
The forum moderators are known users, there are no "hidden" moderators or anything like that. A few weeks ago some inactive moderators were relieved of their positions and new ones were appointed, especially local moderators, these types of moderators are the ones most needed on the forum now. New moderators will be appointed in the next two to three weeks. @hair and I are finalizing the list of possible candidates. When the time comes we will notify the administrator to grant the badges and privileges. After that period of time and the election of new local moderators, we will look for candidates for modz and global moderators.
