Impact of Crypto Mining on GPU Market and Global Economy

Following the historic Ethereum Merge on Sept. 15, the previously highly sought-out Nvidia GeForce GPUs have become significantly cheaper, according to a report by the South China Morning Post. Peng, a Chinese merchant, gave the RTX 3080 as an example as the GPU’s price dropped from $1118, or 8,000 yuan, to 5,000 yuan within three months.

I know crypto mining is one of the reasons why GPU prices go up during the bullrun, but I never thought that its impact on GPU prices in the market would be so big. From these figures, we can see that a large portion of GPUs in the market were used for the Ethereum POW mining network.

This is one of the impacts of crypto and blockchain on the economy. At least for now, gamers and designers can have powerful GPUs at a better price, they will be more productive and contribute more value to the world.

And let's not forget the Bitcoin mining network, I don't know if the Bitcoin network moves to POS like Ethereum, how much will the GPU price in the market drop ^^
