What is Cardano?
Cardano is a security focused blockchain that harnesses the latest research and engineering insights to build a platform suitable for the highest value applications.
Built on a foundation of peer-reviewed research created through partnerships with the world’s foremost universities, Cardano aims to create a platform for decentralised applications and smart contracts that can be processed with a technique called formal verification.
This allows logical proof of the correctness of code and smart contracts, for those applications where value is high and security is paramount. Cardano combines this with an innovative layered approach that separates accounting of value from all other smart contract and computation activity.
This means functionality can be added to smart contract capabilities without changing the protocol responsible for the cryptocurrency.
The Team
Cardano is made up of three companies who each have distinct roles in the project.
Cardano Foundation:- A Swiss non-profit and guardian of the Cardano ecosystem and community. It aims to proactively work with governments and regulatory bodies, as well as forming strategic partnerships with enterprises and other open-source projects to further global adoption of the technology.
IOHK: A world-class engineering and technology company committed to using peer-to-peer innovations to provide financial services to three billion people that don’t have them. The group is contracted to design, build, and maintain the Cardano platform until 2020.
Emurgo: a company formed to integrate, develop and support businesses who want to utilise Cardano's decentralised blockchain.
What is unique about the project?
Cardano is the first blockchain project to be built on peer reviewed academic research.
This level of scrutiny of the underlying technology is an industry first. Further to this, Cardano is unique in that it’s written in the Haskell coding language.
Haskell is considered to be one of the most secure programming languages, minimizing the number of errors and adding extremely robust security to the platform. This includes use of a technique called formal verification, which allows mathematical proof of the correctness of code.
Cardano is also designed to operate in regulated industries whilst protecting individual privacy. Applications built on Cardano can be individually customised to meet regulator requirements, but individuals can protect their privacy by choosing whether they want to enter regulated domains.

I invested in Cardano a while ago! It was of my first "risky" (out of top 25) crypto investments. It's not only about the price (also I think the current one will soon be a steal), but the project itself. Here are some key things that made me appreciate their initiative:
- Everything is fully open-source
- They have a research-driven approach: they work with universities worldwide.
- On the tech side, they use Haskell, a purely functional programming language. It comes with challenges but also a lot of promising stuff

i made investment in cardano because i believe the project will have avgood oppurtunity to grow overtime. beside the price of ADA today is still very low. you can generate a lot of tokens in small capital.. so my advice to all crypto people invest in cardano today. you will never know in a year the coin price will be 1000X huge profit awaits us.

I agree with you, seeing the price of ADA is now low and now it's time we increased the amount of ADA

I've invested a bit in Cardano, mainly because I like coins with lower per token costs so I can purchase many of them. That way when incremental increases in price come it's easier to get out in profit, and especially good if the coin somehow moons instead which can mean I make multiple times my money. I also really like the Cardano project, which is an important factor in any investment.

I invested on Cardano it's because during that time the market price is slowly gaining but unfortunately after 3 weeks of monitoring, the market price cardano accidentaly drops to a very low price and until now it continue to drops more.

Yes i am one of that. I choose to invest in cardano because they offer Layered technology, Multiple development language and their Transparent and great communication. you can see they have weekly technical report, every research paper is published, frequent communications on technical features.

Investment, no. Speculatory, yes. Right now it is in the same boat as other crypto currencies where it has very limited applications available to show a true valuation of it's worth. I believe that the team behind it will be able to provide those applications to justify a higher price. Thus, I am speculating that it will go up and it's future uses will increase it's overall worth.

But as far as I can tell nothing has changed in terms of tech. The issue with the foundation is being dealt with absolute transparency. That old wrinkly fuck has liked tweets from the Tezos CEO which mentions that IOHK and Emurgo can't force him to step down.

Yes I am a cardano holder for almost a year and i keep on holding it until today and my investment today is really dropping too bad and seems no signs that it will recover before this year ends.

I’ve bought ADA at 0.06$ and still holding now. I think at the end of this year we won’t see any increase in price anymore. Hope that I can get back my funds soon

I bought Cardano at the price of 1000 Satoshi and then sold it at 1200 Satoshi.
