What constitutes spam?
« on: March 23, 2018, 06:45:31 AM »
I read in the rules that spam is not allowed, and only meaningful posts are permitted. I get the difference between spam and useless/pointless posts, but I still see a lot of posts that at the least, don't add anything to the discussion, and at the most, are either completely irrelevant or spam. How are posts evaluated at this early stage of the forum? It will become even more difficult as the forum's popularity grows and the number of posts increases.

I was also confused and still am like you.

Admin posted new rules for post count and points. There is less points for short answers and more for topic creation. This should be good for spam because people will post longer posts to get more points and tokens in the end. I don't agree with that fully because we have post count requirement for ranking up so there will be people only interested in fast ranking up and points don't stop them from posting spam and burst answers only to rank up.

I understand that there is no easy solution for this. All forums try to fight with spam and never succeed in 100%.

If we want to win this "war on spam" then there should be no post count requirement for ranking up only something different. I think karma could be good with points combined. No post count to rank equals no need to spam and if you spam to earn on bounty, you will get negative karma and never rank higher or even lose your rank when there will be punishment added in points too for spamming.

I think maybe we should discuss this matter here in this topic. What do you think about this Admin and you AltcoinsTalks members?

Haha, thanks for that. Not sure I want to eat something that consists 'mainly from ham'. Never understood the appeal of spam, meat from a tin.

there's a difference between spam and shit posts.

spam is someone trying to promote something and thus posting the same post in many places > this guy gets banned

shit posts > people trying to rank up and earn points > they create posts with little to no value > these guys can be penalized by points and posts count reduction.

Report both groups or only spammers? Please explain.

@Admin, Looks like it took you some to notice this topic. But hats off, you nailed it. I love your way of approach

I think the Admin has made himself clear. Report Spammers, not the shit posters as of now.

Spam includes irrelevant messages which are shared through out the cyber community.

Bounty hunters who take part in signature campaign, require to post (let's say) 10 posts per week.
I am sorry.
In fact many of high rank member (full, senior, or legendary) also often make irrelevant posts. Often answer with empty opinions, even though previously there were similar answer from other member, just to chase the weekly post number.

Simple answer, very easy to be understood 👍.
I got it, now it's clear what spam on this forum is. So, I know what is allowed or not allowed to be done here.
Thanks a lot

Spam is the use of electronic devices to send messages repeatedly without being desired by the recipient. People who do spam are called spammers. Spam action is known as spamming

Writing spam in Altcoin is another concept. Here people say all they want and no word limit. Sometimes we find them spam but sometimes it is wrong to think so. Maybe they are trying to improve their ratings quickly but it also includes their thoughts before writing something.
Respect them and do not be angry when you see them.

For posts not adding anything except a few words, I think we should report it to the administrator and give him a negative karma.
