I would hold bitcoin if I had a ton of money, than one good jump, and I'm good forever.  I like bitcoin for smaller amounts too, but I have to be creative where I keep them, so transaction fee doesn't eat it up.  But someone said on the news that when bitcoin jumps, some alt currencies jump higher in terms of multiplier.  So I think a small collection of alts and bitcoin is nice, they go up and down as a group.  Its almost like your own personal coin investment consisting of multiple coins.
