Monero developers have patched the ‘Burning Bug’
The developers of open-source cryptocurrency Monero (XMR) have patched a bug that could allow an attacker to “burn” the funds of an organization’s wallet while only losing network transaction fees, according to an announcement published September 25.
The bug was reportedly discovered after a community member described a hypothetical attack on the XMR subreddit. The bug could purportedly affect merchants and organizations in the XMR ecosystem, enabling an attacker to trigger significant damage. How do you think about it?

Monero will be hardforked on October 18.

The developers expect that the size of anonymous transactions on the Monero network will decrease by 80%, and the commissions will be significantly reduced.

The Monero protocol involves three different mechanisms to ensure the anonymity of users: stealth addresses, circular signatures, and RingCT. At the same time, the latter requires complex calculations and time, which makes the maintenance of a full node extremely expensive. That's why it will be replaced by the Bulletproofs technology.

Bulletproofs allows you to aggregate transaction information into new data structures that can be logarithmically rather than linearly scaled.

The network update also contains a number of changes to the mining algorithm aimed at fighting ASIC miners.

it can happen and the attacker can do it all, but I also strongly believe that monero also has excellent security to maintain monero security.

I am happy because it is protected from hacker attacks, this is very convincing for people to invest in xmr because it has strong security.
