So, I mistakenly tapped the green icon that is usually close to a member's username. I mean the green icon that indicates if a user is online or offline. After I tap the icon, it opens up a text box to send the user a personal message.

For example, if you click the green icon next to my user name, you will see a text box to send me a personal message.

I know that this thing has been there for a long time, but I bet that most people are not aware of it, mostly teleported members.

How many of you are aware about this?

Yeah, I know that feature has been there for ages, and I bet as well that most users of this forum possibly don't know.
But on the other hand, I wanna ask if this is really worth creating a thread for?

This is something we all should gather and start discussing about?
Is this something that is important enough that it should worth our time?
This is just one of the questions I think we should always endeavor to ask ourself before creating a thread, so we don't go creating topics/threads on things that are not relevant to discuss about.

Currently, I would say yes as there are probably a lot on the forum still learning the features. As long as a thread has some relevance then it should be fine. IMO this is something I did not know and I think him for teaching me something.

If you find his post irrelevant, report it and let the admins decide.

How many of you are aware about this?

The green button feature that directly PMs the member's username is a new feature.
I've been on altcoinstalks for a long time and I just realized that the button has just arrived.
Previously, maybe in the middle of 2023 it wouldn't exist because I also only realized it maybe in early 2024.

This feature makes it easy for me to directly PM the targeted member, so I don't need to look at the altcoinstalks member profile to be able to PM, this is very easy, fast and transparent for me.

I did not really know about it, thanks for letting me know about this feature. Although it is not a big discovery that could help people, because we already have a message option at the bottom of everyone's profile. Once we click on it we will also be directed to the message page. But still thanks for letting us know about it.

This forum is new to me so it will take us some time to learn more about it, by the way, it is very funny to say that most of us have been on bitcointalk for so many years and we were not aware of many features that we come to know about via topics like these. You are referring to teleported accounts, I can bet there will be one or two local members of this forum also not aware of this feature.

I have noticed that too when I first came to the forum, I also mistakenly clicked on it and it was led to the person's inbox for me to send message but I didn't send and I just came back. Yes and as you said many people are not aware of this feature of the Op as also a personal Message box too. So as you create this thread it will help them to locate it easily whenever they what to send pm.

Thanks OP, for this information, because I am still having little difficulties to understand the forum and some short cut features. It is nice that you brought this here, since it will be easier now for me to PM anyone that I want to PM. A lot of members from the other forum will soon get used to this forum as many are still new and is still learning about the forum.

May it can be true or may it can also be wrong.
Because I was also known this feature already from BitcoinTalk forum . Where the process are same like this if I wanna pm any user just click on the green indicator it will take there for pm'ing . Even then the indicator is white is the same. I think you are going lost your bet because here most of the people are from bitcoin teleported account so it may also can be true that those people are known this features.

May it can be true or may it can also be wrong.

i'm sure many of us are not aware of it.  i actually thought i can check that green box and given some options off what to do to those users. 
maybe it should be a circle, i bet thats the reason why OP even click that green indicator.

some interesting facts are discovered everyday in the forum. no one yet have suggested about the quick reply box at the bottom actually which by default is not seen. one has to click the + to make the massage box appear.
