UBS has a split view on the blockchain and cryptocurrency.

The bank views coins as a “speculative bubble,” adding that it’s “highly doubtful whether they will ever become mainstream currencies.”

At the same time, they note that Bitcoin falls short of the criteria needed to be considered money.

They believe blockchain technology might add up to $400 billion on world quantity once a year by 2027.

“Just because the net has remodeled our lives with email, e-commerce, or smartphone apps, we tend to believe blockchain as associate degree infrastructure technology will power future unquiet technologies through distributive ledgers, good contracts, tokens or identity management,” it wrote, though it didn’t give specific investment recommendations.
