It's not just greed, which is also a big part of it, it's the idea of   thinking that if Musk does well, others will do just as well with cryptocurrencies. And that's the biggest mistake, as I don't think Musk would care much about losing $100.000 in cryptocurrency, but I'm sure others would care a lot. Investing money in something that a billionaire does does not guarantee a high percentage of success and profits, it guarantees a high percentage chance of losing all the money. Still, every time Musk says something on X about Doge... People lose their minds, and probably their money.

Okay, besides greed, there's also faith (in this case, in Ilon Musk) + market misunderstandings + confidence in growth = consequences. If you think about it (logically) the same that the creators + Influencers have only one goal. Of course, to sell (when everyone will naively buy). As a result, a lot of users will lose everything + become disillusioned with the market.

P.S. In my opinion, even if (too long in the market) you know/understand everything. It's not worth getting into meme coins, they are absolutely not worth it. If the goal is to save capital. If you play like a casino, then there's no question. That's my subjective opinion. I personally avoid it and don't waste my time on it.

I am a big believer in doge coin. I hodl quite a few of them. the fact that it is a pow backed by a lot of asics and power makes me think it has a good future.

I can understand what you're saying, but basing your passion for Doge on the simple fact that it uses PoW for mining and that this can be done with ASICs doesn't seem like a very valid point to me. I don't know the exact number, but there are thousands of coins that use PoW and can be mined with ASICs and they don't have the "success" or popularity that Doge has. This popularity is not given by an algorithm or a specific type of mining hardware. Denying that Doge's popularity is based solely on Elon Musk is denying reality.

I think he actually want to say there are many people who invest to mine both LTC and DOGE at once[1], so those people wouldn't just let LTC and DOGE popularity fade away. And FWIW, CoinGecko list almost 200 alive PoW coins[2].

Pontential? I'm sorry, what? Don't forget who manipulated Doge. An asset created as a joke - can't have potential + future behind it. Are most of your funds invested in them? And which specific meme coin did you buy? Doge or Shiba?

P.S. In my understanding, their raising the price = manipulation (of interested specific individuals). The goal is always the same - to drive as many naive users as possible. And sell them the asset that the manipulators previously bought. Therefore, think thrice before investing your funds. And those who force you (talk you into investing in an asset) = most likely a scammer.

It's not always about the profit, the question is that does it worth it that much to buy meme coins, the only time you see them trend is when the market is not making enough profit for investors and traders and when they are bored, some group of guys just come up with some shitty coins, brand it and hype it to gain the public attention and after they pumped it and sell, they move on and abandoned the project to another one.

This behavior need to be stop, look at many altcoins today, despite the growth of Bitcoin expecting halving, the altcoins are sleeping unlike last halving that happened where by now we would have started seeing incredible move altcoins by now. All these symptoms of fear are as a result of meme coins that pump and dump, everyone is becoming wiser and smarter.

Lol , Shiba Inu is a clone meme coins comes from Dogecoin so how would you dare asking if Dogecoin can defeat SHIB when the truth is? dogecoin is the first meme coin and this have been here for so many years now and indeed we are witnessing this coin and not just for playing/gambling but also for its cheap transaction fees and its functions .

I think the reason here is when OP posted this thread back in 2022 and indeed the price is not favoring Dogecoin back then and yes this is when OP calls this thread but of course that runs only for a couple of weeks and Dogecoin retain its position .

It is interesting that Dogecoin always follows other coins to keep increasing the price during this bullish season. I am sure Dogecoin can be $0,3 - $0,5 in this year if it keeps increasing like this.

And here we are. MY L7 miners pull in 21 dollar a day merge mining Doge and LTC.  they burn 75 kwatts

so at 20 cent power you make 21-15 =         $6.00 a day
and at 15 cent power you make 21 - 11.25 = $9.75 a day
but at 10 cent power you make 21 -  7.50 =  $13.50 a day
lastly at 5 cent power you make 21-  2.25 =  $18.75 a day.

my L7 units are fully paid off and are making bank every day.

and this is why Shiba will really struggle to beat Doge in the next 3-5 years.
