Do smart contract coins threaten ether?

It appears the popularity of ether tokens and their use by ICO's are propelling the price forward, when the market is strong.  What do you think will happen when other coins will be used by ICO's as well, will this decrease the price of ether, or will it simply be even better and leaner, when so much volume it experiences will decrease?

I think the ICO is not easy to turn away from Ethereum if indeed the Ethereum price rises and is good. What is clear when that happens, Ethereum will obviously be disrupted and cause the influence of Ethereum prices to be lower due to the ICO that takes other coins. I think this will be fatal to Ethereum if this really happens.

That's exactly why Buterin and his team need to think about the scalability of the ethereum network, it will be able to solve a lot of issues with this coin, in addition to this, the next hardfork is planned to reduce the coin inflation by protecting itself from so many ICOs!

Interesting, so this is an Ether hardfork?  Very interesting will have to look into it more.  I like the protecting itself part.

if many new projects and ICOs are scam like today, this will reduce ETH's popularity even a little, but if this continues to be done it is not impossible that ripple will replace ETH in 2nd place

If Ico uses coins other than Ethereum, in my opinion it can interfere with the quality and price of Ethereum, and can have a bad impact on Ethereum, but I believe that won't happen, because Eth is a smart contract platform.

Yes, Waves is the smart contract coin threaten ethereum. It is also good technology and has potential to replace ethereum.

indeed, one of the supporting factors for ethereum prices is the large number of ico projects that use ethereum. there is a possibility that there will be a decrease in the ethereum value if the ico project does not use the ethereum platform anymore.

but i think the ico project will not turn away from the ethereum platform, because ethereum still provides good service.

Every altcoins have the right to exist in crypto because it is free to be in crypto world circulation. Ethereum as the most advance and the common use in ICO won't decline it's potential even there are other crypto used.

For now, Ethereum is the best smart contract platform and so popular. But I see waves is good smart contract and very potential.
