So many news and info are surrounding these two coins. It is said that one of the main competitors of Bitcoin is Ethereum. So, is it possible for Ethereum to overtake Bitcoin?

In my opinion ethereum will not overtake bitcoin. In terms of price, in terms of originality and the uses. However in supply ethereum dominated that than bitcoin. Both coin is useful in crypto. One lead and the other support.

Many people never thought ethereum could closely mark Bitcoin as it has proved to be. The future of ethereum cannot be underestimated, however Bitcoin is considered to be the heart of all Cryptos. Although possible but still unbeatable. That's how I describe bitcoin over all alts. Bitcoin is unstable but unstoppable to dominated the crypto world. Ethereum will not overtake bitcoin there are more things to adjust to make it happen. Complex will rises in crypto if we push ethereum to overtake bitcoin.

This will be a huge task and I don't see it to be possible. Btc is the mother coin with the greatest revolution of decentralisation. Though all the other altcoins emerge to solve one or two shortfalls of Btc, they can't overtake Btc in terms of value, even if it will enable possible, it is not going to happen now

Well, the future will always remain a
mystery. Saying it is absolutely impossible for ethereum to overtake bitcoin, in my view is a bit harsh. However it will be difficult for ethereum to overtake bitcoin but not impossible. Afterall, bitcoin is the face of cryptocurrency.

I don't really see it... bitcoin I think is getting to about the lowest point it will ever be again... and although ethereum may end up following it for the ride.. I just don't envision a day where Ethereum overtakes it in the so-called "flippening".

As for now NO it won't overtake bitcoin but maybe in the future it will in case ethereum will subdue the world of crypto by its name. It should be more efforts and dedication to achieve that kind of goal.

The Principles behind each of those currencies are different so are their communities so it is possible IMHO both etherum and Bitcoin will keep upgrading its code for example with the sort of thing hashgraph is working on so at the end of the day it will be the community that uses them

Impossible to overtake bitcoin by ethereum or by any other coin. Bitcoin is Bitcoin the first crypto coin that leads altcoins. It is different from other coin.

Bitcoin is strongly remain in crypto as the number one now and tomorrow. Ethereum is the number 2 now but in the future I am not sure if it will stay at #2 or will slow down but it will not overtake bitcoin.

As for me, i doubt the possibility of ETH to overtake Bitcoin. If you have been observing the price of all cryptos, it obvious that a fall in price of bitcoin generally affect altcoins, and i think if this trend continues, it will be very uncertain for ETH to over Bitcoin or any other altcoins.

Yes! It is very difficult to predict the possibilities of ETH overtaking Bitcoin now or in the future.I think ethereum is a great technology and smart contracts can change the way we do business. However, ETH has long way to go to meet bitcoin dominance.

For a few months, if you scrolled down r/Ethereum or even it’s meme-intensive sibling r/ETHTrader, it seemed inevitable that the market cap of Ethereum would pass that of the current top dog in crypto – Bitcoin. The general consensus of both forums was sooner, rather than later, too.
However, several months on and the change in the prices of these two digital assets tells a different story. Ethereum has dropped from around $1,390 to about $385. The all-time high was over 3.6x greater than the price today. Meanwhile, Bitcoin fell from a high of around $19,974 to around $6,930 at the time of writing. This high is just over 2.88x greater than today’s price. Clearly, therefore, people are losing confidence in Ethereum faster than they are with Bitcoin.

It seems like it takes extra energy to be able to replace the bitcoin, and I think it is very difficult. Although the etherium has shown excellent developments, to be able to shift the bitcoin it quite yet. bitcoin is still too strong in his position.

Eth overtaking bitcoin in which area. There are so many aspects of both coins that you can compare: the value, speed of transactions, increase adoption and many others. Each has its own pros and cons and hence both offer complementary role. But for Eth to overtake Btc in terms of value, I don't think it is possible

Bitcoin is the first coin and has risen so high in terms of value above all the other coins. ETH however is doing very well and has a lot of potential to rise significantly in a couple of years to come. To me, I don't think eth can I've taken bitcoin in terms of value but it has some other features like it's speed of transactions that I think is better than btc

I barely think this will happen in the future!
A bitcoin is always going to have more trust as compared to other coins and ETH especially. This trust will always keep building more and more investors and crypto enthusiast in the favor of bitcoin leading to ultimate investment into bitcoin. So you see here, the weightage for the bitcoin will be always higher as compared to the ETH. I'm completely in favor with the ETH as good investment but it always comes after the BTC. Its perfect currency for long term investment but I don't think that anyone will ever put it in the first rank and that too after having blessed with BTC in the crypto world.

Looking at the current prices, I think there is no way ETH can overtake BTC in anyway. But I also dont know the fate of BTC too but for now ETH cant overtake BTC

I don't think there's any need for either one to be "the only coin." Eth and Btc can both be used for different things, there's no need to only have one coin. It's saying there should only be coke and pepsi will die.

Actually i agree with you but it won't happen soon because however today ethereum has big competitors are EOS and cardano ADA coin, ethereum must be focussing on the development of network to be more better than EOS and cardano ADA coin.

Can. Ethereum can overtake and defeat Bitcoin as long as Ethereum can be a consystem in maintaining its market stability and increasing the market every day. If it's done in the next 2 years. It's possible that Ethereum can beat Bitcoin. But all of that is very difficult, considering Bitcoin is the king of Cryptocurrency whose prices are higher and even far from Ethereum. then this needs hard work in the next 4-5 years for Ethereum.

I think there is no direct proof or maybe basis that ethereum will surpass bitcoin this time, but I think the posibility is always there on the line because crypto is really unpredictable anytime price may rise or maybe fall so we need to prepare for everyting.

Ethereum is a potential coin but I don't believe that it n surpass bitcoin because bitcoin is really more popular that ethereum and bitcoin is really the most trusted coin on crypto.
